This has nothing to do with dressing up as in trick or treat -this is marketing young children and presenting them as mini versions of celebs - an idea formulated by adults for the purposes of adults and no doubt we will see a lot more of this -though anyone going to a shopping mall on a weekend will see young children parading with their friends looking like extras at a big fat gypsy wedding -so is this just reflecting what people want and expect now, or are children aspiring to an image of what they should look likecreated in the press and celebrity TV?
@Squad - little girls and boys have always dressed up -I'm sure you did -but little girls and boys usually dress up at home with friends -not presented at the Oscars for the whole world to see - how would you have liked it if your mum had dragged you down the high street in your milky bar kid outfit ( or Cinderella dress for that matter) and got the local press to photograph you?
ummmm......I am slightly confused....you would not bother about dressing your daughter like one of these:

No.........I don't like it necessarily, but to me...it is no big deal.

Dressing up in Mummy's clothes at home or playing with friends is far removed from this. I don't find the photos creepy, just sad and indicative of what American culture (and possibly British culture) has become. Poor kids - no thought given to them at all. The adults are doing it for themselves. Very far removed from kids dressing up - But not too far removed from some kids I see dressed in mini adult clothes tottering down the high street. In fact I find the kids tottering down the high streets in mini versions of adult clothes - much more worrying than those displayed in the photos in a competition. If their parents encourage them to dress like this in everyday life I think it is appalling.
