Something to be said for compulsory contraception of people, at least until an intelligence test has been passed.

If it prevents at least one other halfwit giving their child a stupid name or making them wear something ridiculous, then the court action is worth the trouble.

Over-reaction. The courts must had budget to use up before the end of the financial year.

Intelligence is not the only thing worth cultivating. You'd not want to filter out other skills.

I don't blame the mother, but what was her brother thinking, or the person who made the t-shirt? In the current state of the world, this sort of stupidity has unfortunate connotations, i.e it gets the "news" reporters wound up about their usual pet hates.
What about Hitler? Or Stalin?, Or Pol Pot?, or Bin Laden?.

One assumes they were all intelligent.

Would it be ok for them to have children?
I might have leapt to the defence of this woman/ her brother for the "born on 11 September" bit were it not for the name "Jihad", the "I am a bomb" thing and the fact that it's a three-year-old. Pretty pathetic, anyway. Not sure if I agree that it should have gone to court, but it's still stupid.
And no, compulsory contraception is a seriously bad idea. On what grounds is anyone well-placed to judge who is and who is not a fit parent? People can surprise you sometimes and be good parents when you didn't think they were going to be, and bad parents despite being highly educated. It's not something you can sort out in a test.
Vhg, would it be wrong for them to have children?
Poor child. Hope he can change his name, or will he be brainwashed by his family?
poor child, what a dimwit for a mother..
Hardly worthy of court action, just bloody stupid, many very intelligent people do equally stupid thing shall we have them all sterilized?

Personally I think this question rather stupid, are you taking your contraception?

Natural selection (Darwin) weeds out those who should really not procreate.

I'm definately on the side of the child, but still think the court case is over the top in this case, as the strange naming of children seems to be part & parcel of pregnancy nowadays, as the new parents want a "special" name for their bundle of joy.
but why Jihad, who names a child that for funks sake
