By the way AOG, do you not think there is a logical flaw in the question you posited?

Just because there's a lack of right wing comedians, doesn't necessarily mean that those who successful are 'left wing'.

Not everyone falls into those camps.

Indeed, I would argue that the majority of people would describe themselves as slightly right of centre or slightly left of centre.

This is why the BNP and Socialist Workers Party don't poll big numbers in General Elections.
BNP or socialist workers party - who's funnier?
If you havn't much talent try shouting , swearing, make lavatorial and
left wing remarks and the BBC will push the applause button for you .
Of course it depends on how hard the Blatantly Biased Corporation, for the main part run and staffed by pinko guardianista lefties luvvies looks for "right wing" comedians
I think baz is right

they've not had that Nick Griffin on for a while
Jim Davidson wasn't a red and once spoke at a Tory conference.
He also was a wife beater.
why is the Labour party like Kentucky Fried Chicken ?

because they are both all left-wing and ass++++les

So there must have been some rt wing comedians sometime
i think if some had read the piece that they feel the current crop are over fond of baiting, berating, and generally being unpleasant mostly to the politicians currently in power, because of their perceived wealth and privilege, these so called posh boys, and are rather more lenient in lambasting the likes of Milliband, Balls. Perhaps once Labour are in power the balance will shift, and they will feel the weight of their icy wit, either that they are just a shouting, swearing unfunny bunch of no hopers, who's day won't last long.

That's not a fair description of the majority of really successful stand ups and comedians though, surely?

Dara O'Briain
Ed Byrne
Russell Howard
Lee Evans
Peter Kay
Tim Vine
Lee Mack
Omid Djalili
Jason Manford
Rob Brydon
Bill Bailey
Rhod Gilbert
Sean Lock
Jack Dee

And my current favourite (and heir assumptive to Victoria Wood's crown), Sarah Millican. These are just names I've pulled out of the air and just about all of them I would consider politically neutral.

Is there a similar list of comedians who are 'over fond of baiting, berating, and generally being unpleasant mostly to the politicians currently in power, because of their perceived wealth and privilege'

I'll be honest - I find it hard to name many.

Who do you think falls into your list?
Noth: "I don't get it... "
...yeah right.

AOG are you sure you're not confusing "left wing" with tolerant, compassionate, humanitarian etc?
Seriously though - I hadn't noticed (since the 80s) any clear cut signs of any particular political leanings within today's selection of comedians.
LOL Baz, don't slip over on your rabid fascist dribblings!
I think we have a QED here on this thread with the handful of humourless knuckle dragging fascists who responded !
why are you always so rude about people. is it necessary.

Don't you also realise that shouting is against Site Rules.

/// • Please refrain from adding emphasis in CAPITAL LETTERS as this indicates shouting and is considered rude. ///

It would seem that left-wing newspapers such as the Independent, will go to any lengths to ridicule right-wing comedians, so much so that they start repeating themselves, please read pdq1's link.

/// The comedian Jim Davidson took to the stage of the Conservative Party conference in a sweat-soaked shirt yesterday to mock Tony Blair's appearance last week. ///
