The so called 'Bedroom Tax' starts today. Anyone receiving Housing Benefit (HB) who has a spare room will have their HB reduced.

Will it solve the housing shortage?
or
Is it a cynical stealthy way to cut the benefits bill?

Desktop, if you are evicted for non-payment you are classed as being "intentionally homeless" so the Local Authority has no obligation to re-house you anywhere. So I suggest you think long and hard about your current stance.
having read some more of this, bravejordy said what i did earlier on, and it works even less in the capital because one bed properties are scarce and indeed can be a damn sight more expensive than the one i currently occupy. so if i move, get full housing benefit because it's one bed, then the council are paying a lot more ultimately. or the tax payer is, whichever, or whatever, or i have lost the blasted plot on all of this.

desktop, everyone including me has advised you to pay it, if you cannot then get some help. Like CAB with advice and the council itself, as they do have workshops going on to give out info on the changes, it wasn't that much use by the way, but they did give me the rough cost and that is more or less what it will be a month.
How about getting a job desktop?

Light the blue touch paper and stand back fried green .....
lol carp
Stop being so rude Desktop.

You have been told on a number of occasions - stop buying crap off ebay and get a job. Why the hell should my taxes pay for you so that you can sit on here all day moaning about what a terrible life you have and asking daft questions about CDs? Your benefits will be cut, and you will have to keep paying your rent whether you like it or not.
I don't know why you all bother.

Desktop, //some of you are making me angry now //

Not half as angry as people who think it's their right to sponge off others make some of us!

Rubbish Desktop, nothing to do with immigrants - that is just rubbish.
"so there".

blimey, you must be 5 years old!
So there were two jobs. One job you were offered. Given a start date then came the drama of the foot and you got a hospital appointment for an Xray. Which you didnt keep because you decided to go to the bank itself. To say that all jobs are already taken is patently not true.
lmao @ "Well I won't so there, Barmaid".

You please yourself, love. I think you are confusing me with someone who gives a damn.
Desky, you lost that job because you had a hospital appointment for your foot, right? The same hospital appointment that you never went to, is that right?
