Summer Riots?

I get the impression a lot of people are fed up with their lot at the moment, and they are angry and desperate.

I would not be surprised if we see civil unrest on the streets again. When it warms up end of May, beginning of June, then I think there will be trouble.

I hope not, any lawlessness will distract from the Government's abysmal record and could lead to a backlash in favour of the Conservatives.

Anyone else feel a sense of impending menace?

"Anyone else feel a sense of impending menace?"

Yes, I know what you mean. And I think further unrest is probably a sound enough prediction.

oooo, certain unions are looking at action as a last resort, so i hear, which in no implies i know anything

We had a riot in Glasgow last night but nobody seemed to notice.
^ lol, being so tranquil I'm surprised.

Riots? I've seen more trouble amongst toddlers in a Wendy House in Drumchapel or Easterhouse.

@methyl - joking :-) - bored out of my mind here.
The poor and needy having been kicked in the pocket yet again are stirring to protest, not riot.
mamy, i along with others have been, however i am not about to go smashing up the place because of it, our peaceful protests always seem to get hijacked by a core band of troublemakers. Having looked at the fallout from last time i don't fancy a repeat. I also think it is counter productive, as large scale riots just alienates those who want to protest peacefully
"Anyone else feel a sense of impending menace?"

Well, if rags like the Daily Sensation keep printing such rubbish as they did the other day, I firmly believe they should be prosecuted for inciting any trouble there may be at 'the end of May, beginning of June'

When such utter **** is in print and read by readers who appear to worship everything they read and believe it word for word, what hope is there for us?
what was it.?
Protest in this country has become a farce. A protest for protest's sake. Organised by different political and anarchist groups, it is lapped up by a section of society that is all to willing to follow the herd just to vent their own personal anger or simply to say they were there.

There is no political or social ideaology behind protest in the uk anymore and certainly no long term plan. Anyone with a greivance will stand alongside anyone else as long as the number count is high. A march will be judged a success not by it's clarity of message and reason but by how many turned up.

What difference has any protest made in this country in the last ten years? None, because those who take to the streets and call for change have no real conviction beyond the day of the protest. For all their bluster the following day they are back at work with everyone else toeing-the-line.

Look to libya, Eygpt etc. That's real protest. People with a cause united behind an ideaology trying to improve their lives from real oppression. Compare that with the modern self interest of your average uk protestor.

'what do we want?'
'we don't know.'
'when do we want it?'
'now.'
I feel no sense of impending summer; I suspect Cameron's been fiddling with global warming to make sure it never happens.
em10, whas that a Q for moi?
The piece on the Philpott scum bag

The entitlement culture we live in today is disgusting. People think everyone owes them something, form their parents to the government, well, do you know what? i am sick to death of it, right to my back teeth
You are entitled to nothing! Absolutely nothing unless you have earnt the right to it and that's from benefits to anything else you might want
You want something? Go damned well work hard for it
i worked for it, and need help now, not all people are like that vile man
I don't feel a sense of impending menace - but it seems to me the unions are doing their best to encourage one.
as i said earlier, i think there will be any number of protests, teachers for one, and probably other public sector workers. One hopes this city isn't turned into a war zone again.
exactly, em, that's my point

you cannot expect anything if you haven't put in a good days work, can you?
One of my friends has a fella who is 38. Hasn't worked a day in his life and claimed JSA as soon as he could and has stayed on it ever since. How is that right? He has nice clothes, a nice home and a car! But how can he afford it?
Cash in hand I think, though she won't admit it
