Gromit, I can only presume that you were also able to shrug off the beheading of Ken Bigley and all the other innocent hostages who have suffered the same horrendous fate at the hands of fanatical religious madmen. War is war, and war brings casualties on all sides. This was not war. It was cold blooded murder carried out in the most horrific and barbaric way...

I was mainly referring to the implied call for capital punishment. I'd still argue we should wait a little until the motives of the attack become clear, although they seem pretty unambiguous.
I'm tired of hearing just the West condemning these attacks while there is also an apparent silence from people of the same community.

Excellent point TWR. We keep being told that these fanatics are a tiny minority.
If that is so then surely it is the interests of the majority to help ferret these people out.
At the very least you would expect their community leaders and Imams to be outspoken in condemning these atrocities.
If they don't speak out, are we to assume that they agree with terrorist actions but are happy to let others carry them out.

In spite of this vile attack by a pair of fundie nutters, at the end of the day we're all just infidels to them.

You may say that's a one off but they probably don't tell their Imams any more than the IRA would tell their priests what they were up to
