Gromit, I can only presume that you were also able to shrug off the beheading of Ken Bigley and all the other innocent hostages who have suffered the same horrendous fate at the hands of fanatical religious madmen. War is war, and war brings casualties on all sides. This was not war. It was cold blooded murder carried out in the most horrific and barbaric way...

I think it would be a very good move for a 'Not in our name' march to take place, but I think the problem with that to get really impressive numbers, you would have to get Muslims from a broad spectrum of backgrounds to join. As I understand it (I'm no expert), there is no love lost between different faiths (and nationalities). They would have to organise and put their differences behind them.
It's a mess.
I'm so angry about this, that I'm signing off AB for a while. I just don't want to think about it.

Chilli - that's reactionary and spoon stirring as you well know. I would put it to you that MI5/MI6 and the police have done a hell of a job in recent years in preventing terrorist incidents in this country and I bet we don't even know 10 percent of the incidents that have been shut off by them/nipped in the bud, whatever.
However, we can't be 100 percent watertight, short of banning all Muslims from this country and that won't happen, thank goodness. I'll bet too that Cobra is looking how this lot got under the umbrella......

it's being ''strongly considered'' a terrorist act, according to the home secretary, based on the reports from the law at the scene. they still are not confirming the victim was a serving soldier. the chanting and filmed footage of the murderers after the attack seem to be the main reasons for it being considered terrorism from what is being said on the tv
Kromo, the following is a transcript from videos posted on many websites of a bloodstained man with a meat cleaver in his hand and a body in the background:-
'I apologise that women had to witness this today, but in our land our women have to see the same. You people will never be safe. Remove your government, they don't care about you. You think David Cameron is going to get caught in the street when we start busting our guns you think politicians are going to die? 'No it's going to be the average guy, like you, and your children. So get rid of them. Tell them to bring our troops back so you can all live in peace.'
the ramblings of a madman? or a political statement of a terrorist?

Sure. But why? What are the criteria for an attack to be considered terrorist.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems to have been largely spontaneous - they randomly targeted a man because he was wearing a 'Help for Heroes' t-shirt. That's also where they stopped - there wasn't the same 'kill as many as we can' attitude one would normally associate with a terror attack.
In fact, one also chose to record his message spontaneously to a passer by who for some bizarre reason decided to film it - not in a video beforehand, like most attacks we hear of.
I mean, on the other hand, I guess they were driving around with a car full of knives, but still. I'm just wondering what exactly the criteria of a 'terror attack' are.

A terror attack because of the shout of 'ali akbah'. It has been given that status to match the London Bombing, 7/7.
It was a dreadful brutality to be committed on our streets, those people bring their barbarity to this country and expect us to treat them all as welcome. If they are British born Muslims things must change. Time to clean the streets up. I'm hoping Cameron and COBRA will come up with a suitable solution no pussyfooting.

One of the attackers, filmed with blood on his hands, said "You people will never be safe", or words to that effect. I think he's right.
Krom, I think it's categorised as a terrorist attack because it was carried out by Islamic extremists - and having watched the news, we can be in no doubt of that.
