rofl @ 'this new menace'.................we're doomed I tell ya.
Mamy....I have plenty of fetishes.....:-)........but none about socks(unless they are silk socks)
Well I knew that.
People who use these are still getting their dose of nicotine. Is there any evidence that it is carcinogenic?

Well they are banned in my office, why would that be?

\\\\\ Is there any evidence that it is carcinogenic? \\\\

very, very good question........for which i do not have the answer, but LazyGun or slaney may well help out if they see your post.
Are you Office manager??

I would guess that when people are smoking (real or not) they are effectively not giving their work full attention.
//Makes smokers think smoking is allowed//

No they son;t. I'm well aware where I am or am not allowed to smoke. Even should a amsoker auddenly think vbeacuse someone uses one these they can smoke in a retaurant or pub , they can't, so i son;t see your argument.

And in my experiance they certainly are odourless.

Far from a 'menace' imo, a much better option for smokers struggling to give up.
They are banned in a lot of work places. It's not really fair for the smokers of real cigarettes to have to sit and watch people puffing away on ecigs. It would drive them to distraction.
I remember some years back, Skoal Bandits, small pouches of tobacco, were introduced onto the market as a replacement for smoking. They were eventually withdrawn from sale when concerns about oral cancer were mentioned.
Maybe they should design some to look like pencils for office use.......
From Nicolites.com

Among the 4000 known harmful chemicals, toxins and substances contained in tobacco smoke are at least 25 that are carcinogenic (cancer-causing). The tar in tobacco smoke accumulates in the lungs as a sticky, brownish-yellow deposit that is a leading cause debilitating pulmonary diseases like emphysema. By using an Electronic Cigarette, you’re completely removing all the health risks associated with tobacco. The only substance contained in e cigs is purified nicotine that’s in no way carcinogenic. Once you’ve made the switch to e cigs, we’re willing to bet that you’ll have more energy and stamina and certainly have put yourself on the road to better overall health. Although we can’t make specific medical claims, a quick search on the Internet should help convince you that choosing Nicolite is a healthier choice.
sandy....I can understand that.........tobacco is certainly carcinogenic, but i cannot convince myself that nicotine is.
I feel sure they exist purely to allow smokers to wind up non-smokers in areas deemed non smoking.
Doesn't look as if it'd help folk kick the habit when it reinforces the behaviour of going through the motions.

Nicotine is an extremely powerful nerve agent, 1 gramme is enough to kill a horse so it may not technically be "carcinogenic" but it certainly is bleedin poisonous!
Lots of people where I work walk round all day puffing on them. They should be banned purely because the whole spectacle looks ridiculous.
Now banning the ridiculous - where to start and where to stop ??
OG - You can get different strengths and the plan for many people is to gradually make their way down until they are no longer smoking nicotine.
It does not stink to high heaven, there is no smell whatsoever from them.
Many pubs (particularly the big chains) have taken the simple option of banning them.

e.g. from the J D Wetherspoon website:
"The issue of whether or not electronic cigarettes can be used in our pubs has been considered at the highest levels within the company.

We have also, on occasions, experienced customers attempting to pass real cigarettes off as electronic cigarettes, resulting in customers actually trying to smoke in the pub. Although these incidents are rare, they can result in the pub being heavily fined.

Therefore, due to the problems experienced with the monitoring of these cigarettes, we can confirm that we do not permit the use of electronic cigarettes in our pubs "
