It's entertainment, no more no less.
I am paying attention to the scripts, not looking for historical errors.
This is why I won't view a film or tv with my son, he spoils it by pointing out these things.

I get too engrossed in the story to worry about the little things.

I don't usually mind but got really really annoyed about one thing the the Lord of the rings films. In the books, the stone that Arwen gives Aragorn is green specifically described as a green beryl. In the film, the stone was clear for no reason that I could see or understand. That kind of senseless howler is just annoying, but I don't worry about wellies and drainpipes.
I agree with ferlew, I don't mind watching something by myself and so long as there aren't any glaring errors, I'm not really fussed, but if I'm watching some programme with the OH, he picks up on anything that might be slightly wrong - especially if they happen to be old vehicles; e.g recently, some elderly lady getting on an old bus in a TV programme (maybe Heartbeat?) and being told that that bus wouldn't have been doing that route as they did not bring out that particular bus until 2 years later, you can tell by the split windscreen! I am so glad we have two TV's!
If Edward IV had pulled up to the Castle in a Ford Capti Laser 1.6 and honked his multi-tone car horn playing La Cucharacha I might have noticed a little bit was amiss and then just get on with life. But zips and rubber soles, please, some people are so anal, they are in danger of disappearing up themself?
Saw an article in one of the papers about this and what it basically said was that if they were making a documentary the were obliged to double check that it was accurate as they could make it, but if it was a drama it was just entertainment and while they tried to be accurate it wasn't the be all and end all of things.
