Does anyone else that think that this BNP-lite twit looks like Victor Meldrew ?

Just heard him being interviewed by Naughty on the Today program. There is a phrase that goes something like " when you are in a hole, stop digging" but he seems unaware of what he saying !

I imagine people waiting thought they were listening to muzak and hung up.
"fruitcakes, loonies, and closet-racists"

Unlike the organisers of poster trucks circling areas of London telling folk to 'go home'?
The revered Prince Philip and loveable rogue Boris da mayor are listed as using bongo bongo land at one time or another so how do they stack up against the bogey man Bloom?
Philip is a known loony, and Boris would be in Ukip if he didn't think the Tory party was a better route to power.
Where did he mean when he said Bongo Bongo land? Does anyone know? If not how on earth can it be described as racist? It could mean anywhere.
A bloke that calls a spade a spade (or is that now politically incorrect too?) and people, like hens in a coop, jump on him, not for the content and meaning of his narration, but the fact he used a naughty word -one that is used frequently-as is the word chinky restaurant, *** shop, not by rampant racists just normal everyday people -it means nothing! I for one think what he said was spot on -I will only give to charities I know where the money goes, like the air ambulance or salvation army. I for one am seriously thinking about voting UKIP and I'm no racist, just sick of seeing our country going to the dogs.
interviewed for BBC News, the man said he'd been told, by Nigel Farage, not to use 'Bongo Bongo land' in future, but his response was that anyway, 'Bongo Bongo land' was what had caused him to be interviewed by TV news. There's a suspicion that he knows what he is doing and relishes the publicity.

The man himself is just the type you'd expect to use such an outmoded expression, more G and T than Farage, but essentially the same.
//I imagine people waiting thought they were listening to muzak and hung up.//

The theme from Jaws perhaps.

// It (Bongo Bongo Land) could mean anywhere. //

Not really dave. It would be a strange way to describe somewhere in Eastern Europe or Scandinavia.
themorrigan, there must be a reason why governments of all parties have long given foreign aid. What do you think it is?
Fred, its given for more reasons than I would care to list on here, and like Bloom said, just because somethings been done for years does not mean its doing any good, and its not is it? Poor countries still pour Aid money into Wars while their people suffer and rely on private individuals giving money to charities like Oxfam
The man used language the common man thinks and understands, in the real world not the right-on liberal left one.

Just because the Islington/Westminster crowd are upset on behalf of who knows this time we have all this nonsense.

This happened 5 weeks ago, must be summer and News is slow.

Themorrigan –I’m glad to hear that you are no racist because some people may have got the wrong impresion when you referred yesterday on AB to travellers as ’gypos’ who 'will pinch anything not bolted down' and made another massive generalised statement that must have removed
factor -since when has 'gypsy' been a race? I later made reference to the fact that the real Romany gypsies were a different kettle of fish but they are few and far between, these were a true race, not the wasters that now call themselves gypsies. BTW -I've been called a 'Limey' 'Geordie', 'Rostbif' and worse in a variety of countries and not been offended - people as SO offended these days at the littlest of things -its become the fashion to be 'affronted'.
ymf, not sure that anyone should be upset. It doesn't upset me, for one, but it does suggest a mindset of the past, where all foreigners, from French to fuzzie wuzzies, were Johnny foreigner and inferior to us
factor, the only post removed on that thread yesterday was one from a regular contributor who was offensive to me.
Hello again themorrigan- I can see 3 removed items on that thread. I reported one comment yesterday that seemed to me to be offensive and racist (although maybe not if gypos are not classed as a race), and I can't see it now.
I think a lot of people understand what foreign aid is and how small it is compared to total government expenditure of our money. Whilst much goes to help tackle extreme poverty and no doubt some is wasted, it also has a political use in getting governments on our side (eg Pakistan) and winning contracts and friends in emerging markets (eg India)
so factor, its used for back-handers then.....time for a change.
I didn't mean to imply backhanders- I meant aid for specific projects- eg irrigation or education- where not only does it help people it also helps ensure the governments want to be seen to support us - eg Pakistan regarding Al Qaeda
youngmafbog/themorrigan - do you not understand how insulting it is to most normal people (inside and outside Islington) to assume that they think like Mr Bloom?

Can you not see that most of the UK are not jerks? Have had a decent level of education and are not necessarily liberals or PC...just...y'know...not jerks?
