Time For The Daily Mail To Apologise?
A YouGov poll reveals that 69% of the nation thinks that the Daily Mail owes Ed Milliband an apology for trashing his father.
And more tellingly, 57% of the paper's own readership think the same.
In what other circumstances could a national paper get away with dancing on the grave of a war hero?

I fail to understand why people keep trying to link the "disrespect" shown to Thatcher on the announcement that she was dead and the allegations made by the DM against Ralph Miliband. Please explain, because otherwise to me it seems you are just trying to create a false equivalence in an effort to rationalise what the DM did. Even if your false equivalence were...

No - that's not quite right.
First of all the Mail ran the story, and Ed Milliband asked for a right to reply.
They granted his wish...
...and then reran the original story on the same page as the rebuttal.
Oh, and then they published a big lead article stating that they weren't sorry.
And then after that, the Mail On Sunday sent reporters to his uncle's memorial to pester family members.
And here's another thing...in the original story, they published a picture of Ed's father's grave with the picture text: GRAVE SOCIALIST
I mean...for...God's...sake!!!!

Unless you work for, or are a partial owner of the Daily Mail - why would anyone's opinion of the paper affect you?
I read The Observer every week, and couldn't give a monkeys what people think about it, and it's journalistic standards.
Actually, I doubt we'd ever read about the Observer's journalistic standards - because it's got standards.

// didn't some papers have disgraceful headlines on the death of Mrs T, didn't some people hold parties and glorify her passing, that is reprehensible to me //
Glad you asked that Emmie. No they didn't. Like your supposed photograph of Miliband and someone wearing a Dead Thatcher T-Shirt, it never happened.

Well, perhaps we should tot up the number of complaints made to the PCC about The Observer and the number made about the Daily Mail.
Did you know complaints against the Mail after they trashed the reputation of Stephen Gately (just after he died, and before his mother had had a chance to bury him) actually crashed the PCC website?
