One of the reasons my wife Marjorie and I were going to vote for UKIP at the next General Election was their unswerving opposition to so called 'gay marriage' where men could marry men, women could marry women, and no doubt horses could marry cows.

And now Nigel Farage has said he WON'T overturn this ludicrous law:

http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2014/mar/18/ukip-would-not-overturn-gay-marriages

Why on Earth has he backtracked? I called my son, who's at university, on a ballet course to discuss this, but he was out at some club call 'Throb', and my daughter was also otherwise engaged at a feminist retreat in the New Forest.

What's going on?

But seriously...what IS going on?

Isn't this going to upset some of the member of UKIP who have defected from supporting other parties, specifically because of the main parties' support of equal marriage??

Nige was answering a question that was put to him wasn't he. Isn't it normal when asking politicos what they will do, that there is a sort of pretend assumption that it means - if they were in a position to do so. wouldn't be much point in asking anybody anything otherwise would there.

I suggest you get back to watching 'The Great British Sewing Bee'.

Naomi...Farage is saying nothing whatsoever. He is just using this topic to get his face into the papers. He can change his mind, and think that gay marriage is ghastly again...it doesn't matter, because he and his party are entirely impotent ! They are not going to be in a position to make or change policy, in any shape or form, at any time in the foreseeable future...its just a publicity stunt.
I take it Marge is much older than you sp and met people like our Nige before. He presents a picture of casual bonhomie, whereas in truth he is pedalling away underwater trying to keep his troops together, he needs many more than he has to make a difference on the political scene.

Marjorie has a bit of a crush on Mr Farage. She says he reminds her of Peter Bowles from 'To The Manor Born'.

I am going to mark your answer as the best, because without a shadow of a doubt, it is the most complicated response on this thread so far.

Even Carole Vorderman would have a job working that one out.

And she's dead brainy.
^sp, the Great what??

more like Leslie Phillips than Peter Bowles I'd thought
Oh no Peter Bowles was posh totty divebuddy, casual elegant quite rich etc. exactly the oppo of MrAsk. can you tell we've had a row.
sp I agree about the best answer although I'm still trying to work it out.

That remark about the sewing bee was a pretty sexist remark towards sloopy, sp - worthy of Farage or even Griffin perhaps? I hope not and that an apology is forthcoming. You are better than that.

Stop it.

Just stop it.

;-)
not at all dt, I don't watch that much tv - who's Carole Vorderman?
Some so-called mathematically-oriented woman with a fat ass......x =3y*z^3, where y - calorie intake and z = Countdown totty factor?

Ignore DTCwordfan, if it's not a cryptic clue from the Daily Telegraph (especially the anagrams) he's not interested.

Carole Vorderman is a goddess who used to be on a TV quiz show called 'Countdown'.

She no longer works on the show, but now spend most of her time wearing clothes that are (by current estimates) around two sizes too small for her.

My friends at work describe her as 'awesome'.
well the bottom is certainly prominent and, as you have said, sp, two sizes too tight. I guess that her hosiery has to be specially shaped on to her.....
my son.......was out at some club call 'Throb', and my daughter was also otherwise engaged at a feminist retreat in the New Forest.

Nige mist be gutted.
