/// The Mail revealed that seventy claimed political asylum after the Olympics and more than have were given refugee status. ///
/// Last year police admitted they were still looking for 21 people who just vanished, with one official saying that some had competed then ‘simply wandered off to make a better life’ in Britain. ///
/// Those who failed to return home were from countries including the Ivory Coast, Guinea, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Eritrea, Cameroon and Sudan. ///
Perhaps Africans should be banned from future games here in the UK?
I think an Engineer who can help to build a bridge or help to produce a Jet Engine, or special surgical instruments, is of more use to this country, that someone who can jump high, run fast, or throw a javelin etc.
/// divebuddy, isn't that what passports are for. If 50 athletes come into the country, from whatever part of the world, then unless they have a damn good reason, like broke a limb, or had a heart attack, then 50 should be on the plane home ///
That's if one can catch them, don't forget how fast they can run. :0)
they have team managers, coaches, they are the ones who are looking after these athletes, its their responsibility to make sure they are all accounted for, after all what happens if one is sick and no one knows, and is left behind

Not if you're entering a team in the Olympics LOL
It's a silly comparison of course
we need both
So declining the offer of 21 'top flight athletes' on the grounds they may not be engineers, doctors or nurses is probably silly too.
