What are people's thoughts on what's going on in Liverpool this afternoon? Am I the only one who thinks it's all a bit over the top? Yes I know it was a terrible thing that happened but I just cant help thinking a lower key approach would have been better.

Ooh thanks for reminding me......*Baths dashes to turn tv on* >>>>>>
Maybe it is, but it's not hurting anyone so let them get on with it in peace.
As YMB says.
No, I think it's just you, Dave......it generally is........
I agree with you dave...it is getting a bit OTT now.
No, it's not over the top.

Are you completely numb dave?

Anybody know when they will be having a remembrance for the Heysel stadium disaster?
I think its fitting with what happened to the loss of lives that occurred on a tragic day in football.

The scourers do like to milk it though.

My thoughts are with the families that have lost loved ones.
i don't think that the fervour over this will go away until the legal process has been spent. when someone is brought to account. i am amazed that significant numbers of people in the crowd did not realise what was going on and tried to stop it before this tragedy enfolded. it surprises me that the bradford tragedy is constantly being overlooked. i suppose that liverpool is more famous so the others apparently don't matter.

33 deaths here.....but no memorials.
magpie, I don't think it's the 'Liverpool is more famous' route.

There's also the Ibrox disaster too, which seems to have had closure and isn;t mentioned much anymore.

my thoughts...............96 people dead, if you think its OTT. don't watch the programme. I wonder if any of the family/friends who are present at the service think its OTT ?
When you lose someone dear to you in these circumstances going out with your kids to support your team and never see them come home again you don't know how these people feel and to see this still remembered after all these years may give the families some comfort.
off course the fact that it has taken all these years to find out the true details of the cover up from the authorities on that day, should also be remembered.
We never hear anything about the Ibrox Stadium disaster. Similar number dead, yet we don't get endless anniversaries and moping.
Gromit, re the Ibrox disaster, I've a sneaky feeling that answers were found and there was no cover up.
I may be wrong, but I was only 5 at the time.

Am now going to click on jack's link, cos I asked Mr Alba when the Heysel disaster was.
ooh, Andy Burnham has re-appeared, well I never!
just a thought, what crowd control plans did the ground owners have? We hear of errors made by police etc but no one has blamed the ground owners for lack of exits.
