A phrase with "two-faced" comes to mind...."I like to make myself rich by using cheap Euro labour, but I don't really want them here in the first place "
The CBI has always supported immigration of cheap labour to this country. Most people in business do. UKiP are not the party of business and enterprise, they are the party of petty little englanders.
but this reflects the attitude of much of the electorate. "I don't want foreign workers undercutting Britsh wages... but I like buying the cheap goods they produce."
But much of the electorate didn't put themselves up for Election as a MEP, and this man did, and that is my point.
I don't suppose for one minute that he is paying his care workers good wages either. I am wondering that if this man had told everyone that he was a hypocrite when it came to immigration matters, before the Election last week, would he have got elected ?
Mr Gill's explanation was that he could not get any of population who were not recent migrants to do the work. And he's quite correct. Askmany employers and they'll tell you the same.
The problem is that instead of allowing people to sit on their ar5es all day watching the racing on their 50 inch plasma TV whilst paying them for the privilege the government should be encouraging them to go and do some work. Many of them "will not" undertake work they consider menial because they get paid more for doing nothing. This is not the fault of migrants, it is the fault of successive governments for allowing the situation to develop. And it would not have developed to anywhere near such ludicrous levels had we been able to control the number of people allowed to settle here which, unless and until we leave the EU, we cannot.
I blame mikey's labour party for allowing them in to this country in droves in the first place. If they had'nt been offered work at above the minimum wage then Labour would of handed out benefits to them with great largesse as they tend to encourage the work shy from finding employment. At least this UKIP MEP is supplying a much needed demand in the care industry and paying a wage as well.No problem with that.
NJ...I agree with almost everything you say, and have made a similar post today under Ed's "General Election Voting Intention" post. I live pretty well surrounded by lazy, feckless British dole-bludgers, for whom every day is a "duvet day".
But UKIP have made the issue of foreigners and immigration one of their main concerns. Indeed, almost their only concern, and this man is just a hypocrite, no more and no less.
Retrocop...your post makes no sense whatsoever. Immigrants have been coming into Britain for generations, and have continued for the last 4 years since dave gained power, so why pick on just Labour ?

Gromit...I can't speak for all the unemployed but most of my neighbours seem to have much better and bigger tellys than I do, although I appreciate that this may not be true for all. I helped one of the dole-bludgers to get this huge Smart TV out of the boot of his car last week and it weighed a ton. Most of these are fit young men, with young families, who all smoke and don't appear to have any good reasons why they can't work. When I got in the car to go to work early this morning, all the curtains were still closed up and down the road.
they're not putting themselves up for election, but they're voters. I'm suggesting they're as two-faced as he is, which means his views aren't necessarily an electoral liability.
I can't speak for UKIP voters, other than they appear to be confused about what they voting for. But Gill seems to fought an election under false pretences, as he didn't reveal his hypocrisy first. Some of his votes, at least, may not have gone his way if he had.
No, of course I don't ymb, as I have made abundantly clear in the past, and to naomi this afternoon. But this UKIP MEP has not been honest with the electorate and that was the point of my post, not to go over old immigration ground again. That is all I wanted to say.

It would seem that even your Labour masters have admitted that they made mistakes on Immigration, welfare, the economy and even Afghanistan.
What more proof do you want before you admit that it is not only the benefit scroungers that do not work, but Labour 'DOES NOT WORK' also.
AOG...if Labour were so poor and the Tories are so good, why has immigration still grown under this present Tory regime ? Teresa May is one tough cookie, but even she can't seem to do much about it.
/// But this UKIP MEP has not been honest with the electorate and that was the point of my post, not to go over old immigration ground again. That is all I wanted to say. ///
Are only UKIP MEPs alone in not being honest with the electorate?
Of course not but Gill is the subject of our discussion today ! UKIP make a lot of fuss over the immigration issue but here we have a UKIP MEP who seems to have benefited from the situation. I just want him to admit that he is a hypocrite.
