For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Thinking about it, though, the law changed ages ago and contraception is available all over Ireland, including the morning after pill. You can buy contraceptives in chemists and get the prescription for the pill.

The woman's name is is not being released, though it does say that her immigration status was such that she could not leave the ROI to get a termination elsewhere.
Something is odd in this though. The panel which assessed her mental state decided that she was a suicide risk, but then did not permit the abortion.
From what I recall of the discussion on R4 the other day, the law has been changed, but there is a large grey area around it, and the panel's refusal to permit the abortion will probably be covered by that grey area.
