From everything I have read about this case, it seems that it is everything to do with his mental illness and nothing whatsoever about his religion...so no inverted commas needed.

And a "friend" said he wasn't a good Muslim as he gambled. He felt unloved, was overweight and jobless. Had tried to not pay for burger, decapitated a cat who he said stole something from him and in his madness went on to do same to poor woman. Completely misleading to call this a "Muslim covert" attack. Can't see how that is relevant if he wad a convert, or even born a muslim.

Beheading is a crime and 'punishment' that is automatically linked to Muslim jihads and extremists in the minds of many causing speculation and belief that this is a Muslim terror attack. The police aren't treating it as such.

As far as I can tell no one is saying this is terrorist related. However, as hc has rightly said, the method of slaughter is generally associated with radical Islam, so Mikey, if a stick is being wielded, that's why. There's no wishful thinking about it.
