I put this question for discussion because he seems to me to be whipping up a lot of anti-English feeling.

Sorry, BRIGHT SPARK, I meant that I live 60 miles from Scotland, not Cornwall.
//As Cornwall is as probably as far as you can get from Scotland without getting your feet wet, I am puzzled as to why people there should be concerned. //

if the scots vote yes, it can only be a matter of time before Kernow demands its own referendum, and the flag of st piran flutters over truro town hall.
DT, I don't link 'offence' to this, nor xenophobia. Read my post again.
That would be dreadul, Mushroom. Where would we get our pasties from? (Don't say Gregg's, whatever you do)☺
Absolutely, mushroom, when we of the Putin party take over the islands and Kernow.
Actually Obiter, Greggs are now selling Proper Pasties. They have changed from those abominations that had peas in them ( Peas ! ) Morrisons also sell Pasties, if you feel like you can't wait until you get down to the bottom of the A30. They are a bit small but taste marvelous ! Avoid Tescos those, whatever you do...bally awful.

Time for dinner now and a bottle of IPA !
How the hell can you get IPA down in deepest Wales when it originated up here and we can't get it for love nor money?
As long as they don't call them Cornish pasties, unless they are made here, then they can call them anything they like but, I for one, will not be polluting my mouth with them. Had a good pastie today from the St Agnes bakery......
DTC is awaking long forgotten memories. On my first and only trip to Cornwall 50 years ago I remember that the gift shops used to sell a lucky charm that was called 'Joan the Wad'. Does that still exist?
I haven't see that, obiter.....I remember an invisible Cornish pixie in a jar sold in Mousehole, cost an exorbitant £5 for complete grommit tack - a pint was around 35p.....
When I was there a pint was around 6p, not that I was old enough to buy one.
This was in Tintagel. Perhaps the pixie Joan the Wad was a local thing.
here we are, obiter, the little pixie queen for you....(not AB's pixie!)

derekpara - Some examples of Alec Salmond whipping up a lot of anti-English feeling please?
Thank you, DTC and Baldric, for confirming that I have not yet lost all my marbles!

However, I would note, wharton, is that he is too shrewd to be engaged in direct remarks, usually - he just leaves it to his so-called cohorts, wit the verbal assaults on Farage and others. It is certainly a downside of this campaign and not even tongue-in-cheek like a lot of banter on here and does the SNP no favours at all, indeed the perception of the Scots at large.

Thanks for the link. I agree with you on the generally good-humoured banter here on the subject. I'll leave you with - If there was a match between England and Mars to save the planet, I'd be looking for a shop that sold Martian flags :-)

Anne. No I don't have a link and I am not claiming that Alex Salmond is a racist. He just gives me the impression that he dislikes the English intensely.

Our two countries have fought side by side in two World Wars and have respected each other's strengths and identities. Personally, I love Scotland and the Scottish people, having been to the country many times, but it feels like a close friend is slapping me in the face.
Is this an irrational feeling?
Very much so.
