In your defence, you weren't the first to reference anal sex in this thread. That was me, but I genuinely think that's the issue that men have with gay men, as opposed to lesbians.

Also, people from your generation would remember gay men being persecuted/prosecuted for being gay, where lesbians were not. I assume this too would have an impact on societal attitudes, which after a number of decades will fade.
