Zeuhl - "Six of one and half a dozen of the other
clearly the gentleman is being disingenuous:
‘all because I asked a question and apparently dared to use the M word.’
No
He was implying that only Muslims should be subjected to anti-terrorist searches - which is both stupid and rude"
I think the security people should be been a little more willing to look at the situation realisitically.
Older people simply lose the ability to employ that discretion filter that we use daily to prevent what goes through our minds from coming out of our minds simultaniously.
It is a fact that older people lack a sense of tact and discretion in these situations.
My mother-in-law - last time she travelled with us, had to be warned repeatedly not to make a fuss if she was searched at the airport, and not, under any circumstances to refer to anyone's race, and not to mention the B word.
We are able to prepare in that way because we are seasoned travellers, and are aware of how touchy security people can be.
Not everyone is that fortunate, so a degree of common sense should have been applied here.
The gentelman's remark was probably filppant rather than offensive - because that is what old people are like!
Could there be an element of dimentia involved here? maybe undiagnosed, but still present - and maybe an allowance could be made.
To allow the full legal process to carry through is a significant waste of time and public money, which benefits no-one, and leaves airport security looking nasty and heavy-handed.
