LBGT issues cannot and will not be taught to reception age kids, because it's a topic which is far too complex for them to understand.
This is not what is being proposed.
The idea that LGBT issues are being introduced is nonsense dreamed up by those who oppose the idea because it makes it sound ridiculous.
I suspect that many who oppose these ideas to combat bullying couldn't give a monkeys whether gay kids get to a point where they feel that suicide is the only way out.
As far as I can see, the younger generation are moving in the right direction. When I listen to my nephews (who are now in their teens and twenties) talking about gay mates they have, I find their outlook refreshing.
When I hear certain others, some on AB and some out-with, I am reminded how far we have come in such a short space of time.

sorry to tell you but your mum was ill-informed
transient means being a certain way for a short time. you'll find sexual orientation (straight or gay) doesn't alter once it's established
transgender is completely different; it refers to people who have a gender identity different to their bodies; it is independent of sexual orientation

divebuddy - "A-H, The Cottaging thing, whether in toilets, parks or woods whatever does the majority of gays no favours at all. For a lot of "normal" people the only time they encounter gays is seeing them skulking about in the undergrowth."
divebuddy - the loud drunken brutish behaviour thing, whether in high streets holiday resorts, or just round where you live, whatever, does the majority of straights no favours at all. For a lot of gay people, the only time they encounter straightsm is seeing them lurching about on the high street.
Isn't it wonderful when you can encapsulate an entire section of the society you live in, and attribute to them reprehensible behavioural characteristics, then assume that everyone things like you.
"So it isn't surprising that they think of them as little more than vermin."
I think it is actually.
I think close-minded ignorant fearful clods look down on other people as 'little more than vermin' - others take a more balanced view about the good and bad in everyone.

divebuddy - "Jackthehat, Unless you yourself go in for casual sexual encounters in public toilets, woodland or parks at a time of day when "normal" people might be around, then how exactly does what I said refer to you."
So that's OK jack - you are off the hook! Phew!
Good grief, I can't believe I am giving such reactionary offensive posts headroom, much less trying to debate rationally with their poster.

Your post suggested that because 'some' gay men indulge in cottaging, "normal" (your emphasis) people are justified in viewing gay people as vermin.
I simply wondered whether the usual accusation of 'having a chip on my shoulder' would be levelled if I got, not unreasonably, cross about anyone viewing me as no better than vermin.
