Gary Glitter Paedophilia Trial
It seems that we won't have to wait very long before this trial is complete, as the prosecution was making its closing speech today.

I do recall he got off a similar charge before because it turned out his accuser had sold her story to the press (and stood to get more money if he was found guilty). I presume the prosecution haven't made that mistake again.

jno...I walked into the Cribbs Causeway branch of PC World about 5 minutes after Glitter was arrested when he went to pick up his PC after being repaired in November 1997. The was a buzz about the place and when I asked a member of staff what was going on, he told me that they had Glitter in earlier ( Glitter lived down the road at the time )
As the Store had just reopened after a refurbishment, I thought they had him there to re-open it...cutting the ribbon, etc. But no...he was taken away within minutes of his arrival !
This extract from his Wiki file is what you are referring to above ::
"He was also charged with having sex with an underage girl, Alison Brown, around 20 years earlier, when she was 14 years old. She had had a relationship with Glitter for some years. Glitter was acquitted of this charge. It was later revealed that Brown had sold her story to the News of the World and stood to earn more money from the newspaper should Glitter be convicted"

Well, it doesn't look good for him, that's for sure. There can't be many people in Britain that are not aware of his past, so the Jury will have a devil of a job disregarding their previous knowledge, and not letting it affect their duty in the Jury Room. I guess that is always going to be a problem with high profile personalities and cases like Glitter.

I take it from that post that you would wish that Mr Gadd had been incarcerated permanently for his previous crimes?
That is not how the law works, as I am sure you are aware.
Punishments are decided, and issued, under legal process, and as I have opined many times, the law does not act with emotion, which is why even the most abhorrent crimes such as child abuse have tariffs applied to them.
That same law does mean that if found guilty, Mr Gadd will be looking at some extended time in prison.
