If this was to happen, would there be specific Muslim regiments?

Oh god I am not ex army but even I know you dont need a mosque to pray in if you are a muslim - you can do it anywhere and take a handy compass soa s to face east

Yes I have heard that comment a few times on AB. So why are there planning applications springing up so much in the London Borough in which I reside to build more Mosques? Surely prayer can be said any where if one needs to.

Logistics is the stock in trade of the Armed Forces - if they are able to manage the 600 already recruited, then they can deal with more.

You are highly unlikely to have a Combat Unit that had a 'one' of any persuasion.

DB we had all that in Oireland and whether english roman catholics should serve....

and anyway in Syria you have Assad ( muslim ) at the throats of ISL ( also muslim ) so seeing armed muslims shooting at each other in Syria should not be a surprise to you if you ever watch the news

Once upon a time may be. Don't mention that to ex Falkland Vets who were long range snipers. There was a concern that 155mm howitzer shells were in short supply from the Belgian Manufactures.Shortage of body armour in Iraq, out dated un -armoured Snatch landrovers. Out dated Clansman radios etc etc. Most of our Royal Ordnance Factories have closed. We rely on other European countrys for our military logistics these days providing they feel like providing us with them. (France and Exocet 1982 )

Back on the subject of logistics.
Argentina are doing a bit of annual sabre rattling again. Do we have aircraft carriers at the moment? No. When we get our two new aircraft carriers, currently on the slips, do we have carrier borne aircraft to put on them apart from choppers? No. We are very limited in our field of operations,especially amphibious assault without aircraft flying Combat Air Patrols as was done in 1982 in the Falklands. I would suggest we are hard pressed to cope at the moment.It seems that, as usual, HMG wants their military on the cheap.They culled regular soldiers and now we see adverts to join the RAF/Navy?Reserves.

I think the reality of Enlisting is much clearer now with News Broadcasts etc, couple of years back friends of a Soldier who was killed in Afghanistan (??) were interviewed on TV News and said "He only joined the Army because he couldn't get another job, no-one expected he'd have to go to War"
I think that's changed today!

cahal daly another RC - a cardinal actually - drew a lot of criticism in real time for not condemning the murders/arson/bombs. Basil Hume another RC english this time ( and a cardinal ) used to duff him (CD) up on such a regular basis on the subject ( failure to condemn nurder ) that in the end he (CD) refused to meet him (BH)
