Not me !
I should think so too. I watched someone sitting smoking in a car with a baby in the back at Sainsburys car park. Made me feel sick just looking at it.
I can hardly see it making much difference. People will still smoke like chimneys in front of their children in their own homes.
I doubt anyone has changed their mind that smoking in cars with kids is pretty irresponsible.
Not me! If a smoker wishes to indulge with the inherent (supposed) risks, then thats his/her choice. But to expose a child to the risks in a confined environment isn't acceptable.
Yes I'm delighted but also sad that smokers are selfish enough to make this necessary.
Oh my gawd, smoking debates only get interesting when people disagree. No-one will disagree about this.
Those selfish smokers TTT would be better banned from having children, that would be far more progressive.
I'm all for it but who and how is it going to be policed? Using a mobile while driving is against the law and has been for some time but every time you go on the road you see people using their phones and I bet that not one in a hundred gets prosecuted.
So what if the under 18 in your car is smoking, can you then smoke?
I'm not sure anyone will be in opposition. I smoke occasionally...but never around the children or enclosed spaces. Most people don't need to be told.
2746 in 2012 for examplewhere prosecuted for using a phone paddy, sounds like plod has the means.

Ratter...I have not seen the exact wording of the Bill but I think the answer is not to allow the under 18 to smoke in the car ! Or at all would be even better !

Paddy.......I am sure that the Police, staggering beneath under all the cuts in staff, resources and funding that they are currently battling with, will try their best to enforce this new law !
TTT,2746 doesn't seem a lot for the year especially when you consider the number of people you see breaking this law, I'm sure the police will do their best to pursue the poor motorist again after all it's easier then catching thieves and yobs who go round mugging pensioners
Question Author
Paddy...if a motorist is smoking with children in his car, and/or using a Mobile phone, why is he a "poor motorist", deserving of our pity ?
I don't care how many they nick, it's one more nail in the coffin of this disgusting habit.
mikey, I'm not just referring to this law but the fact that motorist in general tend to be pretty easy targets, as I've said I'm in favour of this law,but like many laws I think it is not a law that is easily enforced, what are you going to do have the "Smoking Police" stood every few hundred yards watching every car that goes by.Like it or not people will continue to smoke and some idiots will continue to put their children's health at risk to feed the habit.
Nick as many as possible for both smoking and using a mobile phone.

Smoking is legal for 16 year olds so I assume it would be below that age, they just changed the age you could buy them to 18.
