What a cheek, these parents should now not be allowed back in this country with or without their daughters.

// no need to apologise or people will think you have'nt the courage of your own convictions// LOL. Following your own advice ?
How about if you all draw your horns in, dismount your high-horses, stop the needling and point-scoring and return to the OP?

I imagine the parents are distressed, but once the girls left UK soil, our Police are powerless to do much but press Turkey, etc. to assist in their return.

Quite right.once the parents have effectively allowed their darlins to flee the UK it is a cheek to blame the UK police who,as you say, are powerless once they rare out of UK juristiction.

What other families would have the chance to go before a Home Affairs Select Committee. and also for senior police officers to attend so as to offer their apologies.

Total pandering to them in my opinion.

Not really.

If I am shown to be wrong, or believe I have upset someone unintentionally, I will apologise.

That is not the same as volunteering an opinion, and prefacing it with 'Sorry but ...' which is something I have never done in my life, verbally or in print.

If I have a view, I don't feel the need to apologise for it before I have expressed it.

Hope that clears up any confusion/
