She states "When I see the picture it looks completely beautiful to my eyes." and then goes on to say "I wasn't being provocative. The point of the photo was to de-mystify all the taboos that are around menstruation."

Questions:

1 - Is it beautiful?
2 - What taboos are there around menstruation? I can't think of any.

I won't draw a parrallel between this natural, normal bodily function and another natural, normal bodily function that I'm sure nobody would like to see (oops, just have drawn the parrallel).

Ron...we can't chose the exact time.
you can't dictate when and where women are supposed to change out....how daft is the very suggestion!

I have to say it, the subject of this post, "well it's a mess."
andres - //ummmm----Tea-time is not an appropriate time for sanitary towel ads. Just sitting down to enjoy your meal and then the ads are flashed up. Not very nice . Put them on in the evening //

Advertising timings are governed by the times the target audiences will be watching. If you want to capture a female child-bearing age audience, then the time such an audience is sitting down to eat is as good a time as any.

In the evenings, they are likely to be putting children to bed/ washing/ironing/ cleaning - all the things that they do so men who think like you can sit and watch adverts!

Not sure what that refers to - we certainly cannot predict if our menstruation will suddenly start at 3am in the morning whilst sound asleep, maybe we should be padded up 365 days a year in case.
I don't really like the picture. It's not arty or beautiful, to me.
While there are no taboos as such surrounding menstruation, I still find it embarrassing to take my handbag into the loo at work, where everyone else are men. Silly, because they all have wives or girlfriend and know its a normal bodily function.
Lol Andy...

Andres...Do you feel the same about toilet paper adverts?

Or perhaps any time between midnight and dawn? :0)
ummmm-now you're being silly.Keep to the subject matter .
It's not silly. It's all about bodily functions. Why are you offended by one and not the other?
ummmm--Nowhere did I say that I was offended by bodily functions just that I did not think showing ads for menstruation products whilst people are eating their meals was appropriate.

who dictates dinner times now? if an add comes on for tampons whilst im eating dinner, i don;t pay a blind bit of notice, same with all the other ads.

Oh Andy, you try so hard and yet.....
Is there a set time to eat meals?

Ads for sanitary products are so innocuous I cannot understand what is inappropriate about them being aired at mealtimes.

Roller skating women and blue liquid has never put me off my supper!
Late evening
because no-one ever ate in the late evening?
I could understand distaste if the advert were to show lifelike colours and graphics but they are heavily sanitised (no pun meant) and not at all off putting.
