Is he just being scaremongering or racist, when he predict that Islamic extremists could cross the Mediterranean and gain access to the UK?
What better way could they 'invade' Europe, and if they did wouldl we see the return of another 'Battle of Britain'?

So its a pity we did not have people scare mongering in the last 10 or 20 years or so.
Then we may not have let in so many Muslims, and allowed so called clerics to stand on the streets spouting their hate and encouraging people to kill the queen, or policemen, or army personnel.
We have been so soft over this whole Muslim thing.
When WW2 was declared ALL people of German decent in the UK were put in camps for some or all of the war.
What do we do now, allow enemies of our country to stand on street corners spouting out their hate for our country, and while living on our benefits as well.
We have become so soft.

Thank goodness that the Nazis didn't come up with this plan in 1939, sending over their SS storm troopers over in boats of refugees fleeing Europe.
But then in those distant far off days Britain had a back-bone.

Why was that a good thing? They did the same in the US with Japanese internment camps, locking up over 100,000 people for the sole "crime" of being of Japanese origin. It's a pretty awful situation when we start locking up people to pander to paranoia.

I don't know if you were around at the beginning of WW2, but if you were would you have treated all Germans with open arms, especially if you had seen your neighbour or family killed in an air raid.
And I don't suppose that the Americans were all that loving towards the Japanese after they had witnessed the cowardly attack on Peal Harbour.

Let's hope so too, Naomi. Still, the thought of locking up everyone who is Muslim just to be on the safe side ought to be abhorrent to all. It's pre-crime. We don't have that, and never should.
Same as with the Germans/ Italians here in WW2, or the Japanese in the USA. I can understand your point, AOG, in terms of what mood of the time was -- but that still doesn't make it right.

I suppose not. For starters, as opposed to a few tens of thousands at most, you'd be obliged to lock up a couple of million people...
Mainly I was just amazed that VHG was referring to the internment of Germans/ Italians (and Japanese) as apparently something to look back on with pride, or to try to emulate, or to regret not having done the same since.
