Anti Scottish!

Am I the only that has been disappointed by some of the anti Scottish feelings that I have read on here? Not the anti SNP as I was against independence but some of the anti Scottish sentiment and stereotyping that I have read.

The English, in general, don’t hate the Scots or the Welsh. The hostility seems to come from the other direction.

Gav, the landlord of the B & B you mentioned clearly had little idea of British history if he imagined Culloden was a battle between Scotland and England. It wasn't; it was a battle between Highland/Catholic forces and Lowland /Protestant forces attached to an English army. Some historians apparently believe that there were actually more Scots on Cumberland's side than Bonnie Prince Charlie's!

anneasquith...they did indeed but a sizable minority didn't. This issue is not going to go away. The SNP has got a fair amount of wind behind it, and at some point in the future, the issue of a second referendum will arise again.

In the meantime, the SNP wants to get an advantage for Scotland in Westminster, and who can blame them ?

I can for one. They are fighting for seats in a UK government, they should have the interests of the UK as a whole as their aim, not preferential treatment for just a part of it.

Clarion...I have lived in Wales since I was 15 years old and I am very nearly 62 now. I have never heard anybody say that. Some Welsh people are not keen on the English, but a much larger percentage dislike the Tories, which may amount to the same thing.

Generally I find the ones that come South of the border less likely to whinge and become British rather than Scottish.

I am an immigrant living many years in Scotland.
I have found that the vast majority of Scots do not hate anyone.
There are many English people living here quite harmoniously with the Scots. No bad feelings on either side.
The way it should be.
