Seems like a reasonable thing to me. Smokers dont care about who they upset so something needs to be done if they wont act reasonably.

Unbelievable that 21% of the population can be totally stamped on, ridiculed and have their desires ignored - yet 30% ish labour supporters are a huge voice...
Give em all a fag prudie. Shut em up for 5 minutes at least.
in fact give em all a big pipe ( peace pipe maybe) shut em up even longer.
Off down the pub for a pint and a laugh with the smokers.
You figure is a little high these days, but the thing is that the 30% are trying to make this country a better place and given the split in political outlooks is a large single group, whereas the 18 to 19% (or less who actually object to restrictions) are simply after personal enjoyment.
I don’t smoke but I get thoroughly fed up with the precious, holier-than-thou brigade constantly demonising those who do. Outside is fine by me.
If I were not an inveterate smoker already I would take up the habit, purely for the pleasure of getting up the noses of the po-faced, self-righteous mob.
Young Man at garden party" do you mind if I smoke?" Answer from young lady
" I don't care if you burst into flames "

Be honest, I don't give a flying ****!.
There is no Pub Garden within miles that can match the Sea View from our Balcony, (1st floor, 3 tables,) and with Supermarket booze prices we don't often feel the need to venture out and be ripped off unless it's for a meal, in which case we're inside anyway!
Not even the Dog is allowed to smoke at home!!
The good thing about cigar, cigarette and pipe smoke in pubs was that it masked some other more unpleasant smells.
I think Mamya has it right.
12.45 post.

Oh and giz a light will ya.
there are more unpleasant smells?
Roll on winter. Parka with Arctic lining, tables not covered with bile, Infra heaters on, no precious, nesh , twice a year uptight look for a reason to whine gits and an Empty bar apart from sociable lads n lassies to watch the footie . Nice. 'They' can stay home and complain about each other.
I think the decline in the 'pub trade'has far more to do with how cheap beer and wine is in the supermarket now compared to a pub. Morrison's has 500ml of real ale in a bottle for 89p against £3. 20 to £4 in most pubs.
The last figures I saw said that smokers were down to just 17% of the population now, though there are variations in some areas. But over 80% of those incarcerated in prisons and mental health institutions are smokers! Is this saying something ??
Personally I would ban smoking in public totally , if you want to smoke you do it in your own home only.

Nice one Eddie, you'd have to be nuts to do it elsewhere!!
I read somewhere recently that smoking in a car, with passengers under 18yrs will be against the law, is coming in soon.
I'm just back from the pub. It was busy all day. We even got fed for free :-)
^^ Yes that is on the way, along with identical plain packs for all cigarettes , with just a large health warning and the brand name in 3mm high letters!
It is the only place that they are allowed to smoke indoors Edith. Oh and the politicians. Statistics. There are lies, Damn lies, and statistics. Lincoln I think.
Pub gardens used to be a great place to take the kids, they could play safely while you enjoyed a drink. Now they are full of smokers and fag ends.
