I found this clip baffling, and it makes me uncomfortable on many levels. Obviosly I've no idea what's being said. The border police seem to be in charge of aid parcels, which they seem to parade before the crowd before taking away. I don't know with certainty what the hand gestures from the crowd mean - in some cultures waving and shooing away are the reverse way round to north European styles. I feel very anxious about men holding small children at the front of what could be yet another violent confrontation, too reminiscent of the IRA's 'women and children first' tactic. I'm aware that the dominant presence and loud voices are male, making me wonder about what's going on among the migrants out there. All in all a very worrying vignette of a desperately worrying situation.

Svejk - on the basis that I doubt you speak fluent Arabic, you have no real way of knowing what was going on when this piece of film was shot.

But it doesn't stop you from assuming your default flippant / sarcastic position whenever Muslims and / or refugees come up.

It’s claimed by two of the people who added comments below that clip that the boxes were rejected because they carried the Red Cross symbol.

OK - I am aware that no-one forces me to read or reply, but I am entitled to ask a simple question - that does not constitute a problem as far as I can see.

I would also like to understand what is happening. If the migrants are refusing the parcels then why should they be offered any help at all?

If its because they do not like the Red Cross symbol on the boxes - I would ask how many refugees are the Arab states prepared to take or how much aid are they donating?
