Svejk - "Question Author

No need for that hostility Andy. You should lighten up a bit."

Unlike bazwillrun, whose hostility is perfectly apparent (again) my question was genuine, and meant as it reads - it was not an 'attack' - I like to think people would know the difference in my posts between a question and a confrontation.
In the original clip it claims that they are shouting....Not Halal......
Why not address the possibilities of what may be happening in the video, andy?

Instead of getting into personal battles?
Thanks gness - that would supply some much needed explanation for what is going on here.

I always remember my dad, who served with the RAF in North Africa, telling me how Muslims from near the camp who were starving, would come to eat out of the pig bins - food waste from the camp canteens. Before scooping out handfuls of waste food, vegetable peelings, offal, anything, and devouring it ravenously, they would always say "Pig ...no ...?"

Such was the importance of their religion, they would literally starve rather than eat forbidden pork - another example of how their faith is woven into their daily lives.

I am not trying to 'get into any battle' - I asked a question, to which I await an answer.

If everyone wants to be so defensive and antagonistic, I can't avoid that, but my position remains the same - I asked a question, nothing more.
So the migrants demand that we help them but only on their terms?
andy-hughes, if nothing else is available Muslims are allowed to eat forbidden foods. Don’t let them or anyone else tell you otherwise.

I simply recounted the story I was told.

I am sure you would agree that interpretations of religious instruction in any faith are - if you'll pardon the pun - a moveable feast.
Talbot - "So the migrants demand that we help them but only on their terms?"

That's one interpretation.
Give me an alternative , andy.

'We want to live in your lands but want to keep the same stupid values we are running away from'

That is how I see it.
If you google.....Can Muslims ever eat forbidden food.....you'll find it's a very movable feast indeed, Andy......☺
Maybe I am naive or just simply do not wish to believe,as a firm long-standing supporter of the Red Cross that any help on offer is going to be refused on ""not halal" grounds as I have seen them offering aid in many muslim countries which is accepted?

Fair enough.

I think that the actual situation is far more complex than that.

For every thousand Muslims that are happy to maintain their faith, but otherwise integrate into Western society, there is one who will insist on making an issue of their faith, to varying degrees, up to and including murder.

They are the ones who attract the headlines, so that it becomes all too easy to assume that Islam is about murder and utter unwillingness to compromise.

I suggest that the truth is at neither end - but certainly weighted more towards the former position.
So you are saying that just a few in that crowd are denying the masses of food?
Talbot - "So you are saying that just a few in that crowd are denying the masses of food?"

No, I am not saying that at all.

My post was in reference to the perceived notion that all Muslims who live in the UK are determined to maintain a position of Militant Islamist views, which I believe not to be true.

I made no reference to the video, because in common with almost everyone else on here - I don't know what was going on, or what was being said, so I can only guess, which prefer not to do.

andy-hughes, //I can only guess, which prefer not to do.//

//.... the perceived notion that all Muslims who live in the UK are determined to maintain a position of Militant Islamist views, which I believe not to be true. //

You’re guessing.
AH you are without a doubt this site's new wrecking ball...Svjek can ask and post as he did for the sare ame reasons you post endless verbose paragraph after paragraph. ..Because he can !....
You seem to think you can question other people's right to post yet get all upset and defensive when you are questioned and put on the spot, as is nearly always the case once your response roundabout is up and spinning...
vakayu, // ….. refused on ""not halal" grounds as I have seen them offering aid in many muslim countries which is accepted…//

Indeed, which makes me think of those ladies who insist upon shrouding themselves beneath the uniform of radical Islam – the burka. One can be forgiven for suspecting the motive behind both.

I suggest not.

I think there is some historcial evidence to back up my belief that most Muslims are not radical - that is a belief based on society's evidence around me.

That's not the same as looking at a brief video clip where I am not sure what is happening, or even when or where it was filmed, and I can't understand what is being said.

Suggesting I know what is going on there would be - a guess.

I think the two are radically (sorry!) different.
