\\\Their victim was beaten with a plastic stick and given back-handed slaps by each of his tutors for "talking in the classroom" \\\
That doesn't sound like much of a beating to me...........and as for him losing his hair due to stress.......yeah! right.......a tame Psychiatrist for the prosecution.
Surely this is a simple concept.........stop talking in class and you will not be slapped (beaten or whatever.)

Yes, despicable, mamya, and, yes, I was a bit of a disciplinarian in the classroom. Alas, I can tell you that these 2 are by no means alone.
In the 1980's some of our older boys went to mosque at Friday lunchtime. I found one 14 yr.-old hunched with wet eyes in a storeroom later one afternoon. He refused to say that anything was wrong, pushing my offers of help and a quiet sit-down away. Enquiries elicited vague information that he'd 'got something wrong' at the mosque and had got 'the rod' - this reference was used as a perfectly normal expression. I found out about girls in an after-school school who knelt to learn and had their hands beaten if they misquoted the Koran, for instance. I've no reason to think that these practices have died out. I always reported my information by the way.

Believe me AOG, when it comes to cruelty to children, you will go a long way to beat (sorry!) the punishments dished out to boys who haven't learned their Loran passages, or are perceived to be misbehaving.
The worst of it is, Social Services will not dream of addressing the issues of this cruelty - whether it is PC or not, I don't know.
My wife was Deputy Head of an inner-city school which had a majority Muslim intake, and on occasions, boys came in with huge red welts on their feet where they had been beaten by the Imams and assistants as they knelt in prayer. My wife contacted Social Services to raise the issue, and was told that they would not go near the mosques because of the potential fall-out.
So, contrary to some perceptions here on AB, I would never dream of defending any Muslims, or indeed anyone full stop who is involved in cruelty to children.
The fact that this sadistic barbarism is rife in places of worship makes it all the more abhorrent, and the fact that those tasked with protecting children are too scared to confront the perpetrators is utterly indefensible.

In case you have missed it - this is 2015, and teachers are not permitted to hit children any more - haven't been for a number of years now.
Dash and darn, some people actually think it is wrong to hit a child - can you imagine that????
