This country has an appalling record for the way it treats its ex soldiers

Instead of opening the door to 20000 Syrian refugees why not provide accommadation for brave soldiers who have fought for queen and country.

I hope you are never huddled in a cold damp air-raid shelter, hoping that there are some service personal out there risking their own lives, so as to protect the lives of such as you.
AOG - given that situation, a simple YES is my view.

That may surprise you, but that is what I feel.
This link below, should never have to happen if the Government had done something in the first place.

Nice of the BBC though.

We know what you 'feel' Andy. Your baseless opinions are all over this site. So indulge us by explaining why you 'feel' this. Ie when we borrow money, have a failing health service, a pack of compassion for ex servicemen and our elderly die in their thousands every winter, how the heck can we support and endless stream of refugees?

Oncec again you zero in on my posts and become hostile about what you read.

So no thanks, I will not 'indulge you' (not sure who this 'us' is you appear to think you speak for) - so please don't address me directly because it leads to a personal battle which bores everyone else and kills the thread.

Zacs-Master - "Just answer the question Andy otherwise people might think you don't know how."

I refer you to the last paragraph of my previous answer.
AOG - "I hope you are never huddled in a cold damp air-raid shelter, hoping that there are some service personal out there risking their own lives, so as to protect the lives of such as you."

I hope so too - but the chances of that happening are far away, and getting further away with each passing generation, so just because you have lived through such experiences does not make the personally relevant to 'the likes of me'.
Unbelievable.

I wouldn't be too sure of that Andy, unfortunately the World is getting more and more unsafe with each generation.

/// so just because you have lived through such experiences does not make the personally relevant to 'the likes of me'. ///

I notice that you sarcasticly enclosed my words THE LIKES OF YOU in quotation marks, I did not use them in any insulting way, perhaps in after thought I could have put OTHERS SUCH AS YOU, or OTHERS WITH THE SAME THOUGHTS AS YOU, or any other set of words appertaining to a combination of yourself and others.

I was not being sarcastic AOG - but I have mentioned previously that I find the term 'the likes of you' to be offensive - and I would be grateful if you would use one of your outlined alternatives in future, to avoid any misunderstanding.

Many thanks.
Yes we should. This country give money and house to Refugees and all the scum that come here it all wants stopping

One you were being sarcastic and two, just because you find the term 'the likes of you' offensive does not make it offensive, and I do not need the likes of you dictating to me what terminology I can or cannot use.
No matter what party it is, all our politicians seem to care more for foreigners than their own people, except of course the SNP, and they seem to care more for their own Scottish people.

But then why else would they call themselves The Scottish National Party?

Here we go again!

I was not being sarcastic, and if I find it offensive, then to me it is offensive - that is how anyone reacts to anything - personally - you of all people should know that!

And I was not 'dictating' anything - I made a polite request, with a 'thanks' at the end.

This exchange is over - I am not getting drawn into another pointless fight which annoys everyone else and takes the thread off track.

I am sure you will agree that this is a wise decision.
Looks like you would like America to defend our country all the time thy would soon get sick of us so we need trident
Childish name calling & squabbling alert......

We do look after our ex servicemen, they get all the entitlements of every other UK citizen!

///Many are having to cope with the devastating affects of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which has led to a cycle of family break-up, addictions to drugs or alcohol and homelessness///.

They may be, are are of course are entitled to the same benefits as everyone else but they're certainly don't get the help they need at times.
what do you think that help that is unavailable should be baldric?
Also, why is everyone ganging up on andy - he has stated he thinks our soldiers should be looked after first - whaich is the same as everyone else is saying!
