Talbot...you have to be 16 and above to appear on JK :-)

Talbot - //Probably from his appearances on Jeremy Kyle.. I mean look at them, you can telll just looking can't you!//

Er, no - and if you're honest, you can't either!
If I were as stupid as this parent quite clearly is, I am damn sure I wouldn't go public with it, thus bring myself and my child into the glare of publicity.

The school quite rightly has a policy that forbids children smoking or "vaping"
on school premises. Did she really think that she should send her child to school with an e cigarette ?

Daft woman.
There is a poll at the end of the link which has heading for 90% support for the school's policy.

As long as there have been schools - and parents - there will be conflicts where the parent sees an issue only from his or her child's point of view, and the school see it from every child's point of view, and the two are rarely compatible.

I've said it before I'll say it again, some people are too stupid to be allowed to breed, end of.
He looks quite sensible to me. A pity they had to go public with this but I do think a compromise could have been found like a 'vaping' room at school. The lad is trying to quit and should be given encouragement,I bet he's not the only one at school having a ciggie behind the bike sheds. Vaping is the best way to try and quit -my OH has successfully stopped quit after smoking for over 40 years. He tried everything including hypnosis and now been ciggie free for two years due to vaping.
yeah great, perhaps the school could provide a shooting gallery for those addicted to the hard stuff eh?
what an utterly ridiculous analogy
When bereavement strikes children have varied reactions, some go off the rails others retreat into themselves , he needs help to kick this and the School has access to cessation programmes.

Let's hope he gets sorted. Mum should have worked with school not railed against them.
no more so than a smoking room for kids!
I think encouraging gun use guns is worse than encouraging the use of e-cigss
Load of old pony, dad dies so kid decides to take up smoking point blank, rubbish, he was already a smoker, just used that to go public.
^ Is that another 'end of'?
Retrochic...I have every sympathy with seasoned, addicted smokers trying to kick the habit. I myself kicked the habit many years ago, in my late 20's.
And there were no gum, patches or "vaping" things to assist back then.
But if these "vaping" things can help, I am somewhat reluctantly willing to support them, even though they are not without serious problems in themselves.

But I have grave doubts whether a 14 year old child could be described as addicted, after only smoking for 2 years. If he needs help, then allowing him to bring a banned substance to school is not the way forward.

The school was entirely in its right to take this action.
Factor...I think he means shooting up drugs.
I was commenting on the thread title, but I wasn't serious

I think I heard some something about a school that has the same policy recently.
There are huge difficulties trying to keep children with behavioural and educational problems in school.

I don't envy any headteacher the task of pleasing everyone.
Would the school have the same policy for nicotine patches or gum?
Seems just stupid to send him to school with an E cig.

I'm not sure whether you don't retain information very well, or you answer diferently depending on whose post you are addressing, andy.
