Don't schools do trips any more? When I was a youngster I went to one of the big amusement parks (can't remember which one), the seaside, a farm, a museum, the theatre twice (Romeo and Juliet and Joan of Arc), and numerous field trips that involved examining cow dung, soil samples and rock formation.

I mean day trips, ummm. I could have gone ski-ing with my school but my parents couldn't afford it.

Imagine such a charity that was specifically for non-refugees?

If as they say it is "it is to encourage integration", why not invite our own deprived children as well, I am sure that they would all integrate so much better.

I don't wish to appear a nit-picking pedant but are refugees "a race"?

One of the purposes allowing a charity to be treated as such is 'The advancement of human rights, conflict resolution or reconciliation or the promotion of religious or racial harmony or equality and diversity' and it appears that this charity would satisfy those criteria.

AOG, those school day trips were very cheap, I can't remember any child not going - the whole class went.

Charities by their very nature have to have a mission statement of their intentions - it would be almost impossible for a charity to set up stating 'we help all and fund anything'.

In the same way there are animal charities that specialise in dogs/cats/donkeys etc.

There are charities for the homeless/terminally ill/bereaved and in this case young refugees.


As i said earlier if you know someone in need a search will guide you to th right charity they can appeal to.

A charity for refugees is not a new thing, the red cross has been doing it for years as has dr's without borders.

So what is it that is really upsetting you? That someone that is not Anglo Saxon ilk is getting a little bit of help?

aog, you do offer some daft arguments at times, you really do. Mamyalynne raised an example that you might be able to get tour head around. Cat charities don't work for horses and dog charities don't work for birds. All charities have a specific agenda.
