94% white doesn't seem very evenly distributed to me.

Better still, simply abandon the Oscars and similar ceremonies. As I said in an earlier question on this topic, I fail to see why Thespians feel the need to hold ceremonies of self-congratulation and aggrandisement.
Having said that, if they are to be continued and if black people do feel disenfranchised or under represented all they need to do is to set up their own film industry (rather like “Bollywood” in India) with its own awards system. I’m sure there are plenty of films that could be made with an exclusively black cast. I have a suggestion for a nickname for such an industry but if it passes the censor it will be howled down as racist, so I won’t bother.
In short, a storm in a teacup.

You mean like the Black Reel or MOBO awards, which on more than one occasion (as I have mentioned in separate threads of this) have been the difference between Black actors getting any recognition and none at all?
We need to be careful in this not to see ugly racism where there is only the difficult-to-avoid unconscious bias -- or even just a statistical blip -- but, after centuries of discrimination or even outright oppression, to pretend that everything is hunky-dory now is equally short-sighted.

Mikey, when I was at school we couldn’t call black people “black”. We had to say they were “coloured”.
Now I cannot call a black person “coloured”. It has to be "black".
Apparently “ethnic minority” is now wrong. It has to be “minority ethnic” (Yeah, right - a world of difference).
I don’t usually refer to anybody in any way that describes their skin colour unless it’s absolutely necessary, but is it any wonder I’m confused?
