/// The UK have many men only clubs and many cases where the sexes are not treated equally by their own culture as mentioned several times on this thread. ///

Ah yes, several times, four to be exact, and two of them by you.

*** It happens in other Clubs and Societies, too. ***

*** unlike some traditional golf clubs, old boys' clubs and gentlemen's clubs. And all the other clubs closed to women like the Freemasons. ***

*** and what we used to see in golf clubs and some men's clubs - the outright banning of women. ***

/// First class/steerage class; front of the bus/back of the bus; main entrance/tradesmen entrance; self parking/valet parking; etc...Oops, I almost forgot: men one side/women other side. ///

You are getting rather silly now, but to humour you, you have also forgot, Ladies/Gents Toilets.

I have to agree with Gromit on this.

The story simply doesn't provide any evidence of inequal treatment.

Please explain why you think the women in the story are being treated unequally.

Or inequally.

Not sure which is the correct word.
Forgive my delay in replying had to nip out to the Pharmacist.

//Don't run yourself down Mam, although you have now admitted to belonging to the AOG Brigade, I don't bear any grudge, providing you go behind the curtain.//

I would be fascinated to see where I am supposed to have admitted to belonging to your fictitious brigade.

My replies have been in response to the topic under debate, not anti you - have you always had these feelings or it is only recent?

/// But I doubt they would get any customers if any club tried to do that. ///

Who would fail to attend then?
I did realize at the time I was typing that post that is was quite silly in a way, perhaps even ludicrous. However, I am a relative "newbie" to the News section as I rarely venture into it, and I guess I'm guilty of merely attempting to blend in...Some interesting views though.

/// No one is arguing that women are treated equal in Islam. But having a segregated audience is NOT proof of that. ///

Then please explain the need of the curtain then?

/// The audience is being treated equally treated, and no one is doing anything
wrong. ///

No illegally I admit, but defiantly wrong according to UK standards and culture, and after all we do live in the UK don't we?
// Who would fail to attend then? //

Depends on the club. I used to regularly go to a raggae club, and if I had to be behind a curtain, I would not attend because I went their to socialise.

No one is saying segregating the sexes is desirable, or even nice. But if the mixed audience is happy to go along with it, more fool them.
// but definitely wrong according to UK standards and culture //

UK culture discrimated against women for centuries, banning them from many social gatherings. Sex discrimination legislation is a recent thing, and one which, on the evidence of your past posts, you vehemently objected to.
At ant rate, standards change, for the better hopefully.

/// I would be fascinated to see where I am supposed to have admitted to belonging to your fictitious brigade. ///

/// Does the 'anti AOG Brigade' have an annual dinner? ///

/// Not that I'd be on the invite list. ///

Sorry if I misread what you had put, are you actually saying then, that you would not be invited because you were not a member of the Anti-AOG Club, and so would distance yourself from such a club?
I am not a member of the club you describe, I wasn't aware of it until today and though you often infuriate me (as I am sure, I do you) I try to answer the points raised in the best way I can.

If my opinions differ from yours then so be it.

I do apologise stuey, I do hope that you didn't think I was calling you silly?

Please continue to get even more involved with the news section, I know it can seem rather a harsh environment for new comers but with a little perseverance you will become hardened to it.
Mamyalynne

The AOG club has a strict men only policy except for saturday, Ladies Night, when you will be admitted if accompanied by your husband.

/// UK culture discrimated against women for centuries, banning them from many social gatherings. ///

No need to go back in the past Gromit, at one time women stayed in the cave, while men had to go out hunting and gathering, and a great deal more recently, women stayed at home while men were forced to lay their lives on the line fighting for King and Country.

/// Sex discrimination legislation is a recent thing, and one which, on the evidence of your past posts, you vehemently objected to. ///

Perhaps you would care to provide me with the full text as proof of your accusation because I fail to remember such posts.

Mamyalynne,

Sorry, Baldheadedness is a requirement of membership.

You do not infuriate me Mam, but as a woman that you are, I just cannot understand your reasoning in this particular case.
I think it's been explained enough times that it has nothing to do with inequality as the men were treated the same.

You can find loads of inequality when it comes to Islam...you just picked the wrong article.

Separating two groups of people, in whatever way and treating them the same, is not unequal.

There is no AOG club, it is called the Anti-AOG Club.

But you would have thought that the Lefties had enough with their Ferret and Lurcher clubs to be bothered to form yet another club.
