I don't think the Germans who lived on our shores during WWII could have done much damage, radicalised or not, as they were all in internment camps for the duration (along with Italians).

Whether or not you think that's a good idea in principle, it wouldn't work in practice, as then we were "only" dealing with at most about 10,000 such people -- rather than the couple of million or so Muslims you'd have to similarly lock up, if you wanted to go down that road. Which, I hope, you do not.
