Yes we should stop.
It always goes to the backwards countries who never have and never will be able to look after themselves.
We have to prop them up when they can’t feed themselves, yet they continue to breed.
We have to rebuild their homes, when a bit of wind and rain has washed away their corrugated tin huts.
We have to throw away money to educate them when there is nothing to use that knowledge on.
And despite the fact that some countries have perfectly viable industries, none of the profits appear to get spent on it’s citizens.
Nature keeps sending floods famines and diseases in an effort to eradicate the populations that can’t and won’t help themselves, but the civilised world keeps interfering.
Time to let nature take it’s course.

The administrator of state pensions is a drain on my wallet.
Phase out the state pension, and the money that people used to pay into it (via NI contributions) should then be available for people to pay into private pensions.
The government spends £11billion on pensions each year, and way too much of that is in administration (including disbursement).
divebuddy - I've told you about this before. Rather than attacking me, why not attack my points?
I cannot answer your previous post on this thread, because rather than you coming out with a counter argument, all you are doi (AGAIN) is talking about me.
It's making me think that you might be a jerk. And I'm sure that's not true.

As I’ve said countless times before, the State pension scheme is perfectly sustainable when considering just pensions that have been fully funded. It is not so when considering “pensions” that are not pensions at all but are simply retirement age benefits. I’ve done the sums and demonstrated them numerous times here on AB.
I agree sp. I’d love to have had all my NI contributions to invest as I wished (much of them went to fund unfunded “pensions” as above). But I will correct a point you made earlier. Even with the payments made to people who have not made sufficient contributions State pensions cost about £90bn of the £220bn benefits bill. So they are not “far and away” the biggest drain on the public purse. Other benefits are.

I made a suggestion earlier (regarding the biggest drain on the public purse), and was challenged on it.
It's impossible for any one person to railroad a thread. Others have to disagree and that's where the thread veers off.
I've seen some points regarding allowing Africans to die off, and rat holes, but little analysis.

To get back to Africa. I've just been reading a report from the World Bank, and now I'm convinced that the narrative that we are constantly fed ("We are chucking good money after bad", "It's all a waste", "It goes to dictators") is not the whole story.
It might be interesting to get some stats on how much of the story it is, but at this time, I'm not convinced by some of the arguments here.

sp, I did NOT specifically mention Africa.
Our overseas budget is spent on other continents as well. All wasted in my opinion, so yes I have no problem in letting these parasites die out whatever continent (or as divebuddy correctly calls them - “ratholes”) they come from.
You appear to be getting it in the neck from a lot of people, and if that means that you are on the defensive, then fine, but please don’t misquote anyone.
I think I shall give my 91 year old Dad (a man, who funnily enough spent his working life assessing people for benefits) a call, and let him know that someone thinks by the time I reach his age, the state should owe me nothing!
