Get Out Of Europe

For those of you that are voting to get out of Europe in the upcoming referendum...... When you receive the 'Stay In' propoganda leaflet that Cameron spent £9 million on, don't open it, mark it 'Return To Sender' and pop it in a post box ..... you can even add your own comment on the envelope lol!!

The point is that taxpayers money (including mine - staunchly 'out') is being used, willy-nilly, for the 'Remain' leaflet, Eddie. Leave campaigns are funding themselves through donations from incomes on which tax has been paid. I would rather that £9 million was spent on Libraries or hospitals - or mending the potholes in the roads.

“^^ The cost is £9 Million. The 34p is that cost divided between the number of households that will get it. If postage was included the real cost is around £1 a household. The government pay no postage on official mail as I'm sure you know.”
Even disregarding the postage (which I have not for reasons below) 34p to produce a sixteen page booklet is a considerable stretch.
Because the government pays no postage on these items does not mean they are delivered “free”. Royal Mail is now a private concern with shareholders so effectively its shareholders (me included) are footing the bill.
This document is being promoted as "official government policy" (so it falls outside the spending limits of the campaign proper) . When Mr Cameron went cap-in-hand to his European "partners" he sought (and failed - swiftly and with style) to get them to make fundamental concessions to "reform" the EU. Befoe doing so he said that if he failed to wring the required chnges from we should be in no doubt that he would recommend that the UK's best interests lie outside the EU. His aims in those negotiations are well documented and his achievements, which fell far short of his aims, are similarly well known. Why the change of heart?

Clearly put, as ever, NJ. As to 'Why the change of heart?' - I don't believe there ever has been a change of heart. I think that he was always intending that we should stay in the EU and that he thought he could fool us and bluff his way through. According to Daniel Hannan, J-C Junker has revealed that Cameron assured him that he would use the referendum ""to dock Britain in the EU". There is probably a plum European job set up for him when he ceases to be P.M.
Well, you can fool some of the people all of the time, etc...

Baldric - all I do is type in' Yougov petitions'. 3rd entry down is a heading 'Petitions UK Govt. and Parliament. Click on that and all live petitions can be found. This one is currently No.2, just under the one demanding a General Election in 2016 on the grounds of Cameron's lies (and to make him accountable). :)
