Why was she appointed and why did she accept, when she was already under suspicion in the Great Manchester Police ?

The SYP are now at risk of being disbanded, as many people gave said.
They are that peculiar but deadly mixture of corruption and incompetence.
They have had the opportunity this week, of trying to recoup some pride and respect, but instead, now that they are in a hole, they still continue to dig ever deeper.

The SYP could be disbanded and then merged with adjacent forces, as has happened in the past.
Naomi....you seem terribly reluctant to criticize the SYP in any way, despite the huge quantity of evidence available, and I'm not sure why.
Most seasoned right-wingers here on AB now accept the Hillsborough wasn't the SYP's finest hour. Add to that, the scandal over the Rotherham child sexual exploitation and its investigation by the SYP and you have a police force that has every appearance of being next to useless, and corrupt to boot.
You may soon be the last person standing up to support the SYP, who doesn't have a SYP uniform on.

Naomi - it is being discussed that all of Yorkshire police forces will merge into one county-wide Force to try and dispel the bad taste left by recent events.

What happened to the West Midlands Serious Crime Squad, could just as easily happen to the SYP, and I expect it will, in due course.
For those with a short memory, the West Midlands Serious Crime Squad was disbanded after an investigation into allegations against some of its officers of incompetence and abuses of power.
Sounds a bit familiar doesn't it !

1. The Kent Police Report into Copley has been completed. Perhaps it exonerates her?
2. Or maybe the PCC just when with innocent until proven guilty.
3. I do not agree it proves South Yorkshire Police 'do not get it'. They were following a procedure just like any other force, whereby the Deputy takes over in an Acting capacity.
