Just hours after she replaced Chief Constable Crompton, Dawn Copley has stepped down......because she herself is being investigated !

Why was she appointed and why did she accept, when she was already under suspicion in the Great Manchester Police ?

You couldn't make all this if you tried....its a complete shambles.

The South Yorks Police are sleep-walking to oblivion here.

nevertheless naomi..he speaks with great clarity and is voicing the opinions of the overwhelming majority...me included..the whole episode is a shameful damning reflection on SYP ....
good luck with that Mikey xx

Minty....you say the nicest things ! (12:42)

Now, if I were as corrupt as the SYP, I might have given you BA for that !
Mikey, Read them again. I said that the police weren't solely responsible for the tragedy we were talking about - and they weren't - but that doesn't mean I absolve them of blame, and I said as much.
oh go on Mikey...you know you want to !! lol x
Murraymints, //nevertheless naomi..he speaks with great clarity//

He certainly does ... even when he's making it up!
Question Author
Naomi...let me put that another way......

"The SYP lied and lied and lied and were corrupt and incompetent, and they shoulder most, but not all the blame, for what happened at Hillsborough "

Doesn't that sound better ?
Yes, Mikey, it does.
don't see anything "made up "...we will just have to agree to disagree !
murraymints, You must have missed this - it was on the first page.

// You may soon be the last person standing up to support the SYP, who doesn't have a SYP uniform on. //

What happened to the West Midlands Serious Crime Squad, could just as easily happen to the SYP, and I expect it will, in due course.

For those with a short memory, the West Midlands Serious Crime Squad was disbanded after an investigation into allegations against some of its officers of incompetence and abuses of power.

No it couldn't mikey, certainly not since the introduction of PACE and tape recorded/video interviews. The WMSSC operated within the old Judges Rules. Under PACE their actions would be under far more serious scrutiny and they wouldn't have been able to abuse said power to anywhere near the degree they did.
But don't let that dampen your usual hysteria......
some of you just dont get it do you...how dare you question or disagree with mikey in any way or form
Question Author
Naomi (12:49)...thank you !

Now, I must away to correct my iphone "notes cock-up of yesterday !

Have a nice weekend !
Mikey, you're welcome. I do like to get these things straight. A nice weekend to you too.
mikey - In Naomi's defence (not that she needs it!) - I would not agree with your assertion that failure to completely condemn something equates to support of it - I think the arguments are more nuanced than that.
Oops - I missed the last page of dialogue when I posted - looks like you to have agreed on your respective stances on this.

Chilli (12:59)

You mistake what I said....it may have been my mistake

What I meant was, what happened to West Mids lot could just as easily happen to the SYP...ie be disbanded and replaced with a new organisation.

And their is nothing whatsoever hysterical about what I and others are saying about the SYP. Read what I have already posted about them, especially today.

They are corrupt and incompetent. They lied in the first Inquest and they continued to lie in the second, and spent nearly £20M of public money in doing so. In short, they are a disgrace.
retro for chief constable ? he is at a loose end these days

the lady who lasted a day - Dawn Copley was appointed with notice
( she was offered the job with the words like 'we know you are under investigation, dja wanna job ? ' )

Chilldo - how do you know about the West Mids debacle - did we ever work together ? .... and no you need a long memory - it was 1989....
a few weeks ago I could find no internet reference to this.
Geoffrey Deer ( all 6'6" of him ) was the then CC and if the reader ever sees a tv prog where police video evidence is over recorded with an episode of Crossroads that was one of the events at West Mids..... Deer very unamused. But the real thing was that X and Y were under suspicion and whilst they were being observed ( so couldnt have done it ), evidence disappeared from lock up showing there was collusion with officers unknown

Deer went in the next day and closed the unit down. Burton who was the police fed rep commented Geoffrey Deers ambition knows no bounds and he will not allow the careers of honest policemen to stand in the way of his advancement.

Deer went onto to be HMIC ( big chief inspector and is now his Lordship )
read about him here
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geoffrey_Dear,_Baron_Dear
and there is nothing about corription
( but a passing mention over little John Shorthouse ... )
http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/midlands-news/thirty-years-kings-norton-youngster-9903425
The bigger John Shorthouse ( Snr) had the unpleasant habit of flicking petrol over someone he didnt like and then playing with a cigarette lighter as they were tied up and drenched ....

well actually there is ....here
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Midlands_Serious_Crime_Squad

why didnt I see it last time round ..... posted Oct 2014

there is case law on this
to what extent in an appeal do their Lordships have to take into account the fact that a police witness once worked in a corrupt department ?
Not very is the answer - you have to show the corruption touches the case.

This post has been a longer post on past corruption in the west mids serious crimes squad which occurred in 1989
// No it couldn't mikey, certainly not since the introduction of PACE and tape recorded/video interviews. The WMSSC operated within the old Judges Rules.//

well since we are picking .... it seems it could I am afraid
PACE is 1984 and wiki says the WMSCC was closed in 1989 - which gives it five years to clear up its act before closure.

My own recollection is that the WMSCC was closed down 1983-4
but that is why people keep paper notes - because memory is fallible

have a good week end everyone
accuracy is all ....
Sorry Chilldo - I took your post as being in Brum when all the crap about WMSCC unfurled - sort of across the road......

instead I can now see you were quoting Mikey and you ( CD) werent anywhere near. You can probably see that i was .... (there) and .... across the road .... and that it brought back memories. I can tell you our eyes were like dinner plates at the time.

[ and since you werent anywhere near at the time you would not have any idea about what applied when and to whom- many sozza ]
