Not sure what is wrong here. This little lad looks very neat and tidy to me !

I had hair only marginally longer when I was a lad in the 50's.

From the school website.

'Odd or unusual, severe, decorative or fashionable hairstyles/haircuts are not permitted.'
Both schools that my son went to insisted on natural-coloured hair, and I think that's fine.
I remember a girl at my comp who had her hair clipped very short, but with a very long fringe over her face. She had to wear a baseball cap and keep the fringe off her face until it grew out.
Fashionable hairstyles are banned? Now that's crazy. The current fashion for men's and boys' hair is very smart. What are they supposed to do?
Maybe the school could put up a list (with photo's) of officially sanctioned haircuts?

I believe that works in other parts of the globe.
Tilly, does it say whether or not the school are twinned with North Korea?

I bet there is a geography teacher at the school with a comb-over ... should he be sent home?
The staff photos are interesting on the school website. Some fashionable haircuts amongst the male members of staff.

I think there is more to the story. Not only does he have a 'Peaky Binders Haircut, he appears to dress as the young Gang Boss in the TV series. The hairstyle is OK, but does the cap suit him?

Hans.
Not often i agree with you Naomi but @ 0915, you are bang on.
I'd suspect the pose with the cap was to humour the Daily Mail photographer.
Thanks Ken.

Grow it a foot long lad ... follow the example of Jesus
Having properly re-read the link - instead of half reading it as i had done earlier - i note that this young lad has, apparently, had this style of haircut for the last 7 months. Are we to assume that no-one thought it offensive until Peaky Blinders returned to our screens last week?
It appears to be remarkably heavy-handed on part of the school and will cost them in terms of the distraction that it is causing, never mind undermining the school spirit in terms of pupils and staff - pure disruption and unnecessary. In my day, that haircut would have been exemplary - getting us into the hairdresser or barber was a major feat!
Would Patricia Field, the crazy wig hair designe, step forward and into the breach and cover his shorn locks?

Thats pretty much how I had my haircut for school in the 60s, we called it a "short back and sides" specifically for school.
Some interesting hairstyles amongst school staff.

Just hover mouse pointer over the children's drawings in the attached link.

never mind the haircuts, slight imbalance of teachers genders, 30+ teachers are female, about 4 are blokes. shouldn't this be addressed?
Good grief...at least he hasn't got patterns shaved into his hair, along with a "diamond" stud in one ear. That's what I've seen here sometimes. He looks very tidy...isn't that what counts?
