If his parents took him out of school for a week for anything other than illness they'd be reprimanded but the school deems it acceptable for him to miss a week because someone there objects to, what I consider to be, a perfectly acceptable haircut! Something wrong there!!
Yes the hair looks okay now from what we can see, but maybe we haven't been given the full story. We don't know the exact reason for the suspension, what options if any had been given for avoiding a suspension (e.g. evening out the cut) and whether any previous warnings had been given). When someone goes to the press rather than resolve it with the school on a story like this it can indicate that the relationship between school and parent may be beyond repair.
I don't know if there's more to it, but this little boy is eight years old and action like this when he, personally, hasn't actually committed an offence is likely to alienate him from the education system for the future. It's a stupid thing to do. If there is a problem the school should have the sense to sort it out with the parents.
We can't see the top of his head in the pic, and I've never seen Peaky Blinders so don't know what that means. It does seem OTT by the school My son had a very short cut at that age. I used to do the clipping myself. The school didn't say a word. Loads of kids had it had the time.
That one doesn't work, Jim. This is an eight year old whose education has been disrupted because the school objects to a haircut his parents allowed him to have. Try again.
I think it does work -- otherwise I wouldn't have said it, obviously. But the fact that the parents allowed the haircut is, from the school's perspective, neither here nor there. Shouldn't be relevant from your perspective either, if it comes to that.
I think it says more about those that run the school than it does about about the young lad. Absolutely nothing wrong with his hair. When going for my daily paper, i pass a bus stop at which there are at least a dozen young lasses, all smart in their school uniforms. Some have green hair, some red, some blue, others multi-coloured. Obviously we have more liberal schools in Burnley-By-The-Canal than they do in Birmingham.
Jim, //But the fact that the parents allowed the haircut is, from the school's perspective, neither here nor there. Shouldn't be relevant from your perspective either, if it comes to that. //
It's entirely relative. This little boy is eight years old. He isn't responsible for making his own decisions about haircuts or anything else. Whoever decided to suspend him hasn't an iota of common sense and should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.
