Viv ( 14:57 )...."To be honest, no matter what horror they print on their packets - diehard smokers won't ever give up"
Well, that is not strictly true. Die-hard smokers ( an unfortunate phrase in this context ) can give it up, if they try and all the stats prove that they are, although the rate of decline is flattening out.
But its the next generation that we need to concentrate on, like those young mothers at the school gates. I am even more concerned about the children of those parents, as they are treated to the sight of adults smoking on a daily basis.
My brothers and myself all smoked when we got to our teens, mainly because most adults, mainly family members, smoked like troopers. I am glad to say that none of us do now, although one of my nieces does, much to the disapproval of the rest of us. But one out a dozen or so, is better than most, which would have been the case a generation or two ago.
