This is simply a trojan horse.
Ask to take in hundreds of adult migrants and we have to think twice, but offer up pictures of destitute children with their sad faces peering behind barriers and most of us feel sympathetic, and maybe let them in with welcome arms.
But once let in, they then send for their extended families and we are swamped by the sheer numbers, that we have to allow in, much about the same as the EU's open door policy.
Are you prepared to witness your country's standard of living and it's infrastructure overwhelmed, in your liberal minded quest?

You and Hitchens seem to not understand the term 'Little Englander'.
It was coined for those people opposed to the Empire. They were wrong because the Empire is what made Britain Great. Post empire, the term is now used for anyone who does not want the UK to paricipate internationally. It has nothing to do with size, it is about attitude.

Baldric, I was wrong, you did comment on it. There are hundreds of thousands of posts on AB, so I will not remember all of them. I will not know about posts I did not read. In this instance, I did a quick search of AOGs postings and got no hits. He was claiming saying it, so I looked for instances of just him, and there were none. My mistake was extending that result to everyone, so apologies to you (and Retro).
Yes I predicted exactly that,as did Baldric. I can hardly bother to post on news anymore as the when some of us write our opinions and suspicions of what may happen we are decried as xenophobic racist,'little Englanders' by the leftie luvvies whose only agenda is to display their virtue signalling and constantly affirm at every step of every post,if they can squeeze it in, that they are not racist and they let a muslim cut their hair so there!! Funny how when these predictions may just come true suddenly we are told no one ever said or predicted that. Well Balders has just proved that us' little Englanders' can see the wood through the trees.
Slightly off topic but it was predicted by some of us here that Cameron's cherry picking of vulnerable Syrian refugees be bought from camps to the UK and be granted asylum may backfire on us also, especially due to the difference in culture with respect to how Western women may be treated by muslims. We were decried and told these would be genuine refugees who were been saved from their war torn, strife and trauma. Just so but it still didn't stop these in Newcastle showing their gratitude to their host country and proving that some 'little Englanders' on AB were correct in their predictions.!

I prefer New Judge's definition.Apologies Judge, hope you don't mind me pinching your post.
//A “Little Englander”, jb, is a person who believes that the UK government should consider the needs and interests of the United Kingdom before those of anybody else and that it should not be defelected from that task by foreigners. (In fact, “Little United Kingdomer” would be more appropriate, but it does not carry the same insolent weight).
A little Englander is a person who takes a “parochial” view on life (according to Lord Hague) and is one who worries that a third of a million people a year arriving to settle here is a cause for concern.
A Little Englander is someone who has noted that the history of the United Kingdom, with its (unwritten) constitution but a number of constitutional instruments has seemed, until quite recently, to develop and evolve quite well without the need to be shackled to a corrupt, moribund, redundant bloc of disparate nations.
A Little Englander is someone who believes the UK Parliament should be the only legislature in the country, that the UK’s Supreme Court should be the final arbiters of legal disputes.
A Little Englander is someone who worries about the increased powers the European Court of Justice is grabbing for itself and who is concerned that those powers seem to be trumping those created by the UK Parliament for UK's courts.//

Stop swerving about gromit. Whatever its original taunt was meant to be is long gone, the term has been greedily grasped by the dahhlings and is intended to be a different jibe altogether in recent times. As well you know. More obfuscation and self serving justification, of your less than solid ground position, is expected.

Indeed so. I recall the howls from some here who were telling us that these are genuine asylum seeking refugees who are harmless ,none extremist, homeless,Syrians who just wish to go back home when the conflict was over. Didn't take them long to change their minds and there is a conspicuous silence also from our friends on AB who list to the port side as well as the Newcastle Police and BBC. :-(

//Togo,
Do you think the British Empire was a mistake?//
I think I have spent most of my life being forced to listen to the left wing, liberal, intelligentsia traducing the achievements of the British Empire, and England in particular, and insisting that it was an evil and reprehensible period in World history. It was apparently a system which enslaved and disenfranchised millions of people world wide and brought to them only misery and shame. Now I hear these very same anti British chatterers extoll the virtues of an Empire of the EUSSR, which is nothing short of an unelected gangster pyramid scheme which does far more damage, far quicker, with no means of being held responsible for their wickedness, to millions of people. Guess what though, the laughable (if they were not deadly serious) arguments they use to tout the EUSSR as a heaven sent gift to us all, are the exact same arguments they have used to denigrate the British Empire, but now in reverse. Fifth columnists all. The irony is breathtakingly ugly. British Empire bad, EUSSR Empire good.

The judge has made law via unreasonable interpretation. Children should be returned to parents not be an advance occupying party. Interpretation of the law regarding adults is also bad. Parents who abandoned their children and/or other family have a right to family life and so a right to purchase themselves a ticket back to their home.
The judge hasn't made any law.
When the law was framed it was assumed the children would be back home. The Judge has been asked to rule how the law should apply when it is the child here and the parents abroad.
The law has not changed, been enlarged or otherwise modified in anyway.
It is plain daft to blame the Judge and not the people who originally voted for this law.
