/// For me, co-operation with our partners on the continent and the restriction of the power of our government is a positive, not a

So says "not an ordinary person" Baroness Lawrence, a member of the unelected house.
Seems to me that is of course only while there is a Tory government in power is it Mrs Lawrence?

Our "elected" MEPs have no power whatsoever to influence the secret decisions taken by the unelected eurocrats. Cameron has no influence either, as his recent negotiations on change prove. We can, and will, get rid of any politician who lies and fails to carry out the promises made to secure our votes. The tsars of the EUSSR pyramid scheme don't even have to...

//AOG so why would you want them to have more power?//
Some haven't quite got the hang of this new democracy idea have they. We don't want them to have more power.......we want the self serving gits to do what they are damn well elected to do. SERVE the electorate, do what they promised whilst touting for votes and a life of privilege, or koff.

No. You are giving them more power.
Work that you currently elect an MEP to do will be transferred to Westminster.
That means instead of being part of, for example a European Commission to work out trade agreements with other trading groups, that job would be in the IN tray of Sajid Javid, a man already totally out of his depths.
Reappropriating power back to Westminster sounds like a good idea until you weigh up the dearth of any talent in the current administration.

//that's exactly what you're voting for with a Brexit: the taking away of power from the EU and giving it to British politicians whom you all criticise on a daily basis! //
The faceless, unelected bureaucrats of Europe are also criticised on a daily basis - but we have no opportunity to get rid of them.

The tsars of the EUSSR pyramid scheme don't even have to make promises, false or otherwise. We don't even know when they are meeting to plot the next set of directives. Why would anyone who believes in democracy want to be told what is going to ensue by faceless bureaurcrats meeting in camera? Democracy is electing non permanent officials to carry out OUR instructions.
Whether some ABers, really, don't 'get' democracy or they're being deliberately obtuse I'm not sure.
However, one thing I can guarantee. If the Labour party hadn't decided the EU was good for the Labour party, and that is, after all, all they care about, some of our most committed europhiles would be equally as vociferous in favour of Brexit.

That's not really a defence of voting for a Brexit tho is it? Do all you Brexirters live in the hope that the politicians and parties which you criticise on a daily (hourly?) basis will be replaced with members and a party who do everything we want / are not corrupt or self-serving in any way or....... do you think, come election time, it will be the same bunch which, if your successful, you will have given even more power to?

In the last election in took getting the most votes in the constituency to become their representative. It's the best form of representative democracy one can get, apart from allowing them to form parties of course. We have nothing to stop us lecturing on democracy until someone tries the real thing.
