I think the issue in Greece was simply the case of waiting for the banks to announce an exchange rate. The problem was swiftly resolved by the sound of it, but not before making a big drama of it on twitter and on the news.
Yes its all very good for you people sitting here at home nice and safe in your houses but for those on holiday it must be a little unsettling. Then to be told there was no money available (no matter how long it lasted) would be a little scary.
So how about a little sympathy rather than your sarcasm and high fives to fellow brexiters!!
Yes, it's all very well for me sat here starving instead of blubbing for people who had to wait half an hour to get more money out on their foreign hols.
You've made me feel thoroughly ashamed of myself, Islay.
it was bound to cause a fleeting blip in europe until exchange rate was fixed..not an unexpected scenario ..most folk would have been ready for it..the machine in my wee place can be down for days not hour or two..lol...
One person reports they can't get money for an hour or two and it is reported in a national newspaper. Some months ago in my local town, not sure of the reason but every cash dispenser in every bank stopped working on a Saturday, it wasn't even reported in the local newspaper.
Are we now to get every minor hiccup reported and blamed on leaving the EU?
Some seem to be forgetting we are still 100% in the EU today and will be for probably 2 years. Nothing has changed except a wobble on the currency markets. And as for Greek euros they've often been an issue for holidaymakers long before the referendum. Remember when everyone was worrying their euros from Greece were going to be worthless?
