Do hetro police officers not flaunt their sexuality at every opportunity then? //In my younger days I worked closely with the a section of the Met and I have to say they all but got them out and measured them on tables!//
Yeah. In the middle of a major London Street with thousands of onlookers and in full view of the media. Dream on lady.
I note that most supporters have probably never worn a uniform on their back, never took a real pride in wearing it for what it stood for and probably do not know what self pride and self discipline is.
Next time Tommy Robinson organises one of his marches perhaps you luvvie liberals won't object to a St Georges armband and Britain First lapel badges sported on police uniform tunics ???

I never said it was in full view but regardless they were representing their department and in uniform when they worked with me - at that time I was not in uniform!
But if it pleases you to call me a liar - go ahead!

(((Remember - he was off duty.)))
Was he really?

/// What a grumpy old curmudgeon you are AOG ! ///
No need to be insulting, but then I suppose that is all part and parcel of being a Leftie.
But moving on, you are once again reading into this more than I have put, where have I said anything about 'London Pride'?
This is about a policeman neglecting his duty for his own personal wishes.
Knowing your hatred for 'Coppers' I thought this would have been a great opportunity for you to have a dig?
But then seeing the circumstances, it would then be against your own political correct ideals.

I'm surprised at you, retro. You of all people should be aware of the problems gay victims have had reporting crime to the police, especially sex crime such as rape and hate crime.
I know my local police force is working hard to assure gay people that reports will be taken seriously and with empathy - and news reports like this one can only help.

I have insulted no one. This officer is abusing his position and openly promoting his sexuality by using his uniform as a advertising media. If he kissed his boyfriend in mufti it would not of merited comment and he knew it. A exhibitionist and attention seeker . Yes there is a time and place for everything. You can get drunk off duty and you don't drink on duty. You don't make your own rules and regulations when you join a so called disciplined organisation!!
I agree with anneasquith @ 11.48 .
I'm sure his actions were sanctioned , especially given that there were a fair amount of party poppers on stand-by and his partner appeared to be the only person not in on it.
It was a real feel good factor moment , regardless of the sexes involved .
I do agree though that sentimental moments and grand gestures ,in general don't belong in the workplace , uniform or not .

You brought up the following :::
"why do the gay community find the need to flaunt their sexuality at every opportunity"
The incident that the DM have reported and you have gleefully supported happened at the London Gay Pride parade, so why are you now changing your tune and saying "where have I said anything about 'London Pride'?
Hoisted by your own petard AOG.

"Commander of Engagement, Mak Chishty, will be attending the London Pride parade. He ensured extra safety for the celebrations.
He said: “We’ve got extra officers throughout the day in addition to what we already planned and I’m very proud to say that also that we’ve got 150 officers in full uniform taking part in the parade itself."

/// He was in the parade at the time, marching in formation with police officers, ///
And what if he had been a member of the armed forces marching after returning from a six month tour of duty abroad, and he also broke ranks because he saw his loved one in the crowd?
Has said before, there is a time and place for everything, why couldn't the policeman wait until he had finished his duties then asked his partner to marry him?
But know that is not the gay way, it has got to be "I will do it, because this is what I now can"
