There is a time and place for everything, why do the gay community find the need to flaunt their sexuality at every opportunity?

The perceived norm is that straight people wouldn't break ranks and propose to their girlfriend /boyfriend but because he's gay it would go against everything which is PC to be critical .
It's really that simple .
I think you'll find most gay people actually take exception to being perceived as 'different ' , in fact they really object to it .

You asked:
"why couldn't the policeman wait until he had finished his duties then asked his partner to marry him?"
He was part of the parade. He was not on duty.
And the proposal was a nice public romantic gesture.
I totally understand where you're coming from though. Some from your generation are simply not comfortable with gay people. And whilst you may not want to see gay people thrown into jail, or chemically castrated, you also don't agree with public displays celebrating the advances we have made in the past 40 odd years.
Totally understandable. But I suspect that the number of people who have issues which mirror yours will decrease over the next 40 years, and we will be in a position where Pride isn't actually necessary.
But I think it will still happen, because Londoners like anything that gives us the excuse for a big party.
C'est la vie.

Drivel and even more drivel,
/// "why do the gay community find the need to flaunt their sexuality at every
opportunity" ///
No mention of the London Gay Pride Parade.
/// The incident that the DM have reported and you have gleefully supported happened at the London Gay Pride parade, so why are you now changing your tune and saying "where have I said anything about 'London Pride'? ///
Because as said before "where have I said anything about 'London Pride'?
This is all about the policeman, aren't you intelligent enough to see that?
Hoisted by your own petard mikey4444.

How many people think that this officer should actually face disciplinary action, and on what basis would that action take?
Would it be under the heading of 'bringing the Police Service into disrepute'?
Drunk and disorderly whilst on duty.
Yes.
Failing to report a crime whilst off duty
Perhaps
Proposing to his partner whilst on a parade which celebrates gay people.
Errr...

AOG...for the last time.....you brought up the gay issue and that this incident happened at London Pride, not me or anyone else. If you hadn't reported the outrage that you and the DM felt, none of us would be discussing this issue this morning.
To be frank....you started it, so don't be so shocked when people oppose you, as many have today.
If you insist on playing with fire, you shouldn't be at all surprised when you get your fingers burnt.
